Ice blast spell on burning leaves?!

My sims were burning leaves (a lot of them)... and my witch sim came over and cast an ice blast spell (on his own) to put out the fire on three piles of leaves.  Now these piles can't be clicked on.  They say "no interaction available"... you can't delete them in buy mode either.

What happened?  How do I get rid of them?  I am in University at the moment.

Press Ctrl+Space+Shift to activate the cheats box, type 'testingcheatsenabled on'  and while in LiveMode press ctrl+mouse left click on the pile and the object delete option should appear. Delete the piles.  Don't forget to type 'testingcheatsenabled off' to deactivate the cheats after you are done .

Wonder if there is a noncheat way or if it's just a glitch.
