That was basically it. They had a whole section in the Prima Guide on astrological charts and so on and so forth.

Oh, cool...I like how that sounds. Shoot, what'll happen to our sims that don't have signs...? I wanna choose my signs.  :(

You probably can by midlife crisis into another sign, or if that doesn't include it you probably should spent 5000 LHP to buy a new one.

That was basically it. They had a whole section in the Prima Guide on astrological charts and so on and so forth.  Personally, I never paid no mind to it and just played.  It was too much a pain in the you know where to mess with it.  It had its moments, I suppose and sometimes I would match sims signs, but it seemed in most cases, it didn't matter anyway, so I just played the game. :)

I think I remember it mattering when the signs were in the incompatible/repulsed by (or whatever the negative word they used was) category, but I don't recall if when they were most compatible if it made a big difference. When they were in the 'hates (insert sign here)' they'd definitely have trouble building a positive relationship. I hope I'm remembering all this correctly, but I may not be. Using the 'What's your sign?' question again would seem a step backward in the cheese factor. Something they seemed to be moving away from up until now.

Per the Sims 2 Prima Guide - Personality traits were preset by the zodiac sign.  For instance an Aries had 5 points of Neat, 8 points of Outgoing, 6 points of Active, 3 points of Playful and 3 points of Nice.  An Aries was attracted to a Gemini or Taurus and was repelled by Cancer or Libra.  Per the guide one could tweak the values up or down a point without changing the signs.
I never paid much attention to the signs as I am an Aries and in real life my other half is a Cancer.  I am not repelled by him - at least I haven't been for these many years we have been together.   ;D

Note - I have all of the guides if anyone ever needs information from them.

You too?  LOL I have them too, but I put sims2 ones away and now have sims3.  I didn't find the last one as helpful and found out pretty much on my own and from here.

Mine are in the bookcase behind me as my two older grandchildren like to refer to them when they play Sims 2 on the other computer when they visit.  I have a few of the Sims 1 guides in the bookcase too.
I have already pre-ordered the guide for Late-night.  I enjoy reading them even if some of the things they say you can do you really can't - lol.

Speaking of which, in The Sims 3 guide it said it was possible to "Ask Out on Date" when you use the phone.  But that's not really possible, is it?  I never saw that option.

So how many people have already pre-ordered Late Night??  I'm being cautiously optimistic.  I think I'm going to wait for the reviews first.
I think my biggest fears are that it will introduce new bugs or glitches, or make the game run slower (especially with all three expansions installed).

I hope not, though.   I hope it's a huge success, because I really want to love it!

Glic2000 - I have pre-ordered the game and the guide.  I too hope there are no additional bugs.  My game doesn't run too slow, sometimes I wish time would speed up, but I run it at the slowest game speed as i like to see what happens from one Sim minute to the next - lol!

As for 'Asking out on a date', you can call a Sim and ask them to meet you at such and such a spot.  If they say yes then you need to head over to where ever you chose from the map view.  Occasionally the other Sim will say they are doing their hair or something dumb like that.  Once or twice I have received a message after I made a beeline to the meeting place that 'Something came up' and I was left all alone -  :'(

O my... wow! We just don't only get a piano with this expansion (which I was hoping for) but we only can drum and playing a cello! I like this a lot.
Does this mean they can form a band?

In sims2, I loved listening to the sims play, especially when they were all maxed out in their skill.  I loved when they sang kareoke together too.  I had eight sims one time in a band, it was college dorm I built and boy were they awesome.  So this is something I am really looking forward to.

So apparently they are adding 3 more music skills to the game?  That's a lot more detail than I expected!  I'd just assumed they'd compress all the instruments into one skill...

Indeed Glic2000. But I do think that it is a more split up skill. Like studying music for a while (learning the notes) and when you reach level five or so you have to specialize into a certain instrument.
Just like the criminal or police career in game. I think it would be something like that.

Thank you. :) If I find any confirmation about it I will post it. But when you think about it, this will be more obvious than putting 4 or 5 new skills ingame for any instruments apart. In both WA and Ambitions EA added 'only' 3 new skills and because mixing would already be one of them in Late Night, dancing maybe the second, than you can come easly to six when you count the instruments.
I don't think EA would do that.
