I don't like night-life's take on the night-life scene being solely geared toward exclusivity and achieving celebrity status.  I'd like to see you able to reap just as many (or at least differing and noteworthy) perks from becoming well acquainted in those friendly neighborhood bars.  Myself, I've never had any interest in going to exclusive clubs, prefering those like of "Cheers" bars, where everyone knows your name.  Why would that be a reflection of me being unversed, or "unpopular?"

I'd at least like to see different styles of bars... different "fame pathways," as I'd say.  From high class, proper lounges, to raves, to rock bars, etc.  So it's not just purely linear.

Although I'm glad to hear they'll be taking a less cartoonie approach to the vampires.

Oh, sweet irony, deliver me from coincidence.

Please feel free to utilize any of my builds in any of your stories and so forth.

I think that's what they're trying to do, make it so there's a wide variety of bars.  The quote from the official press release Community/News Announcement:

Quote
Hang out at the hottest spots in town, from dive bars to dance clubs to chic lounges, complete with bouncers.

So there'll be a ton of different hang-out spots, some just a little more exclusive than others.  And "exclusive" doesn't necessarily mean "for celebrities only".  I don't remember where right now (to be completely honest, bars are the aspect of this EP I'm least interested in, so I haven't been paying as much attention) but I remember something hinting that there would be different ways to gain access to "exclusive" clubs.  If I'm not mistaken, being friends with the bouncer was one way.

Howdy Caltie!

I was wandering off to find "the official Late Night press release" ... then realized you were most likely quoting the Sims3 Community/News announcement (you were   ;) ) ...

and found this.

 :(

I was all fired up to make a comment here on this thread about comparing / contrasting Nightlife to Late Night>:( (and bemoaning the enthusiasm that spontaneously erupts amongst the "Community" when EA mentions a new Stuff or Expansion pack), that but it's too late!  :(

The EA promo-machine's already putting out new content!

and @ danefaith, (Hello, danefaith!) I'm with you on your post. We'll see how Late Night handles "popularity." :D

Oh, good!  ;D  And even if there is nothing but high-end penthouse suites, I'm still really looking forward to this EP.  Seriously, it really seems like EA is going all-out for this, making it so much more than just a NightLife do-over.

Indeed it does. Some people are a little skeptical about this EP and some of the features that it may or may not include but I feel that it is going to be just as great as it sounds. Either way it is going to be adding a lot of new things we were all looking forward to.

My mom is skeptical about this game because of it's title. I was a little upset because of that but i'm not going to give up. I'm going to get the game, whether they like it or not.

Why is she skeptical because of the title?

Maybe I'm speaking out of ignorance now so I shouldn't meddle, but can't you persuade her to sit down for 5 minutes and read about the EP in order to make an informed decision? I can't see so much here that would be unsuitable (not at least any more than the base game).

My dad (who oddly enough listens to her) said to "wait for the review". I don't see why it such a bad game, but that's not the only game the objected to. "Late Night" and "Hote Date" were both games that they objected to. See the pattern? If not then I'll show you it it. Both games have something to do with "dating" which my parents disagree on (and which I don't have a problem with). It's not like i'm going to go on a date, after I dumped my old girlfriend, I'll think thrice before actually going on a date.
I think that my parents are looking into this too much. They aren't see the bigger picture to this. The game is supposed to be fun, and it doesn't matter if they have dating or not. The game is not supposed to be taken seriously and it's not going to cause me to want to go dating.

I will however talk to them. I'll see what I can do to see the truth in the matter. However I think that when it comes to my goals, the ones that I wan't to follow, they always want to intrupt. However this is a teen instinct and I don't think that they truley want to get in my way all the time.

Don't be to hard on them.  There are some parents that let their kids watch or play anything they want, because they don't want to be bothered, so at least they care about what you play, that being said, have they read or seen the video on Late Night?  I know the video is geared toward the night scene, but there are so many other factors to the game.  Before the EP comes out, there will be more info on it, so just hang in there, maybe they need to visit the forum here too.

No. They just said "Oh it's says Late Night, must be a dating expansion, I won't let my kid buy it."
Besides they honestly don't have any right of not letting me purchase it because I worked Long, Boring shifts just to get the game. I'm not going to let anyone or anything set me back. I am determind to get all the expansion packs (I promised myself and i'm going to keep that promise).

Howdy Caltie!

Whoops, sorry!  I wrote that on my way to bed, after a long evening "out on the town" (and by that, I mean at the local county fair, lol) so if something wasn't completely accurate I apologize.  Yes, I was quoting the announcement.  Thanks for the correction!

And, unfortunately, comparing/contrasting upcoming EP's with former EP's of a similar content/theme is only natural.  Actually, in a sleep-deprived way, that's what I was trying to hint at.  I have a feeling that Late Night will be exactly like NightLife in the same way that World Adventures was exactly like Bon Voyage.  Similar theme, yes; but completely, completely different game.

My dad (who oddly enough listens to her) said to "wait for the review". I don't see why it such a bad game, but that's not the only game the objected to. "Late Night" and "Hote Date" were both games that they objected to. See the pattern? If not then I'll show you it it. It probably won't do much good, if they're anything like my parents were, but perhaps you can point out to them that this game will be rated "T" for "Teen".  As in, appropriate for anyone older than 13 to play?  As in, labeled that way by professionals who see a lot of games and know what they're doing?  Perhaps you can also point out how delicately The Sims has always handled even adult issues in the past.  Besides, this game isn't nearly as much about dating as it is having a good time on the town.  Actually, I've very rarely heard the word "date" in connection with this game, and then only in passing (as in, "take your date to a club!").  I have heard nothing about any sort of dating mini-game, as there have been in past EP's.  I don't think it'll be as date-driven as, say, NightLife?  And I sincerely doubt it'll be anywhere near as obsessed with dating as Hot Date was!

If it is your money and your choice and you are over the Age limit thing then they shouldn't stop you. My parents never do, just the 'Another one!' excuse for not buying it!  :)
