The announcement said 'Mixologist', so I'm thinking that'll be a bartender. I SOOOO wanna be one of those, or a cello player. I hope they add a lot more instruments...Like violin...(sniff)
Those vampires may not sparkle, but the glowing eyes from the one in the video freaked me out...
On the instruments: YES! I want grand pianos and beautiful violins, masterful cellos and pretty flutes.
I don't play any instrument and never have, but I do love music in many forms; including more classical music.
On the vampires: Same here.
Her eyes creeps me out, but I love that! It would make for really great mystical, fantasy and horror stories!
Well if all instruments are also skills, then it's likely there will be a 3-4 limit seeing as they don't like to add a heap of skills with every expansion. What are the confirmed instruments anyways, other than piano, cello and drums?
Yeah I know *sigh*. I don't think there's any really confirmed instruments, but I *hope* there's more of them. And the skills would be a bit of a problem, too yeah. But couldn't they divide it into "groups" or something? I mean, Athletic is just one skill in the sims, but really, someone being athletic doesn't have to mean they are body builders;
They can be football players (strength building exercises = star football player? or cardio expert= football coach? Is that realistic? Well, it's real in The Sims) which would mean strong legs, good aim, good footwork and coordination and a slightly strategic mind,
in boxing you would require coordination, strategy, brute strength, good aim and stamina,
or ballet dancers - not a lot of strength, some cardio, and more stretching, coordination, focus and stamina. And dancers could be seen as athletes too you know.
So "Athletic" as one single skill in Sims 3 is not really realistic, but following that theme, we could have "Strings" (guitar, violin, cello, ukulele etc), "Keys" (grand/ piano, keyboard, would xylophone be included here?), "Drums" (all kinds of drums, like bongo drums too), and "Blow instruments" (flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone etc.), and several others.
And please forgive my lack of athletic and musical knowledge, I'm sure I made some stupid mistake in my information here.
*innocent smile*. But even though this grouping would be very unrealistic (you can play the guitar, but you definitely can't play the violin just because of that), it could work. Now I guess I'm just being a bit too optimistic.
those are the 3 instruments you see in the clip. None have actually been confirmed (at least I don't think so) if they are a skill, they will probably be grouped as one skill eg. music, so you could gain skill by using any of the instruments - much like logic can be gained from a few different items, but it's still one skill.

This could work, too, I guess, but I don't think that'd happen. In that case, wouldn't it be more reasonable to have put Inventing as Handiness instead? And make Sculpting and Painting, alternately also Styling, Photography and Architecture, into Creativity? We already have a Guitar skill, I'm not sure whether they'd start putting things in one music category when the skill was already set out as Guitar and nothing more. And that would also dispatch my theory about music groups.
Heh, I like arguing with myself. Which shows on my long posts... *sigh*
