This doesn't really sound that appealing to me. Well, except for the bands, since we all know bands are kewl, oh and of course the music in the trailer (I lurve it!).
I was hoping they'd skip the "Night life" EP and go directly to Seasons and Pets EP. Those two seem to be more profitable EPs than the others.
But if EA gives the simmers exactly what they want so early, many simmers could lose interest in the EPs released afterwards because they'll compare them so harshly to the Pets/Seasons EP(s). Looking at the order for expansion packs though, the theme mostly follows a pattern;
Dating/Downtown/Partying/Music etc:House Party 2nd, Hot Date 3rd, Superstar the 6th for Sims 1.
Nightlife was the second expansion pack for Sims 2.
Late Night is the 3rd expansion pack for Sims 3.
Vacationing:Vacation/On Holiday 4th for Sims 1.
Bon Voyage next to last The Sims 2
WA the first with Sims 3.
Work/Business:Open For Business was 3rd for Sims 2 (Free Time 7th).
Ambitions 2nd for Sims 3. And Sims 1 had nothing similar to Ambitions or Open For Business, I believe.
Pets:Unleashed was 5th for Sims 1.
Pets 4th for Sims 2.
MagicMakin' Magic 7th for Sims 1.
FreeTime 7th for Sims 2.
And another note: Livin' Large/Livin't It Up had similarities to the Sims 2: University, and they were both the first expansion packs for Sims 1 and Sims 2 respectively.
-- So we'll probably get magic last, and pets after this EP. Unleashed had gardening, like Seasons (even though Sims 3 has gardening in the base game) and they were both the 5th expansion packs so we'll probably get seasons as the fifth expansion pack. Not because Unleashed had any weather but it had at least one big similarity to Seasons.
But then again, these patterns are in no way any sure way to tell. The Vacation EPs for example had an irregular pattern with the games, and of course it is far from certain whether the Pets and Seasons expansions will follow the patterns. But this is the best guess we have so far, unless we infiltrate the EA HQ and threaten them with guns and grenades to tell us about the future EPs.
And look, here I am talking about finding out about the future EPs when the new EP has just been announced...
I like the idea of bands, but I'm a little dubious about vampires. The only time I tried the vampires in TS2, I couldn't stop them from dieing during that day. I find it hard to keep regular hours, so my sims are often up at night, or sleeping during the day. I'd hate to have to keep a strict time table to stop my vampire sim from burning in the sunlight - and I tried putting her in a room with not windows, but it had a doorway opening onto a room with windows, so she burned :S
I loved vampires in Sims 2! ♥ But I agree, the sunlight thing was *very annoying*. And for me it didn't matter whether no room in the house had windows; they couldn't live outside of their coffins during the day anyhow!!
Apparently, vampires will have their own bloodlines. And you can construct penthouses for your homes. O.o.
Listen to the first five minutes of this: http://www.gamespot.com/shows/today-on-the-spot/?tag=stitialclk
I can't listen right now since my head phones = a pile of useless scrap, and it's the middle night here and my parents are asleep so... But bloodlines!? Penthouses!? Oh my God, that sounds fabulous! Absolutely awesome!! Then the sunlight wouldn't be as much of a problem? And hopefully the Ep will include completely night exclusive careers too, in the case that vampires can't stand being outside during the day. Or the vampires can be self-employed; ooh, building a mass of sculptures in the middle of the night in the basement!!
EDIT: Argh, long long post here...
