Sorry for the lack of updates recently but I just haven't felt like playing Sims at the moment (yes, I really just did type that!) but I promise I'll get playing soon and I'll pen the next chapter  :D
Don't worry Snuffles. I feel like I haven't been having enough simming time lately. Well, the summer holidays are only a few weeks away (I have eight school weeks plus half-term.) and there will be plenty of simming time then.

Yay for the summer holidays! Three weeks away (on in the Lake District, two in Belgium/Holland/Germany) and then three weeks of Sims and sun. And rain... lots and lots of rain

Chapter 3 - Mega toddler cuteness!
« Reply #18 on: June 02, 2013, 04:43:53 PM »
Sorry for being absent for so long! I planned to do a couple of updates this week but I went on holiday and forgot to bring my laptop (I remember the charger... just not the laptop!). I've made quite a bit of progress so it may take a few chapters to get caught up  :)

Simon is one of the cutest toddlers I've ever played! I took a ridiculous amount of screenshots so here are some of my favourites:

Bert had his adult birthday and started having a Mid Life Crisis. And, of course, he reminds himself that he's getting old by constantly checking out his wrinkles.

Hugo did nothing as a nooboo and I hardly took any screenshots. He aged into a toddler and it's clear who he favours...

He inherited his mother's hair dye. Only in Sims, eh?  :P

After his makeover, Hugo heads straight for the dolls' house and sticks the Daddy doll in his mouth. Maybe he's trying to make a statement?

Pat tries her very best to look after her boys, despite hating every moment. She even tackles every parents' nightmare... potty training.

Bert is the opposite of Pat. He absolutely loves Simon and Hugo. They may not bear much resemblance, but Hugo and his dad still have a special bond.

Buckley and Asta also have a special bond. They don't seem to get much attention from Bert or Pat so they socialize with each other to keep their Social levels up.

Buckley has his own comfy bed to sleep in while poor Asta is out in the rain. It rains constantly in this game.

It seems Pat likes the rain, though. She chooses to eat outside in the rain rather than in her lovely dinning room. I'm surprised she hasn't grown tired of soggy waffles and cereal bowls that overflow...

Chapter 4 - Growing Simon
« Reply #19 on: June 03, 2013, 04:14:31 PM »
Because he learned his toddler skills so quickly, I decided there wasn't any point keeping Simon as a toddler for his last two days so I caked him up early.

Daddy took him to the cake.

I still laugh every time I see those cross eyes!

Teehee.

Look what he aged up in:

I knew that fairy costume would be bad news...

Anyway, here's his makeover:

He's actually the first kid I've ever had who can really rock that hairstyle!

Simon rolled Good to go with Virtuoso and Loves the Outdoors. That's a second trait he shares with Hugo. They're good traits but I don't want them to have the same personality.

He heads straight for his rocking horse and is certainly enthusiastic about it.

Simon seems to have developed his parents' habit of sitting outside in the pouring rain. Seriously, when they move town I am going to turn weather off because it just rains non-stop!

He wastes no time in the future spouse hunting and brings home a girl on the first day! Her name is Bridgette Parrott, who is the baby Jazlyn Parrott is pregnant with in the beginning of the game. She's quite pretty and two of her traits are Snob and Brave. At least she'll get on with Simon's parents!

Bridgette is also a fan of the rocking horse. She, however, takes it a lot more seriously.

Poor Pat aged up in the middle of the night with nobody around. She didn't seem too sad about it though.

She started having a mid life crisis but I rarely take much notice of them. She bought the mid life crisis LTR and changed three of her traits: dislike children became family oriented, snob became athletic and no sense of humor changed to neat. I also made her quit her criminal career. It just didn't fit with her new family oriented personality. She already has high athletic skill so I figured that the sports career would be a good fit. I'll change her lifetime wish when she gets enough lifetime happiness points.

It was Spooky Day the next day and Simon invited Bridgette to the festival park with him. They had a great day out:

But, as they are good little children, they managed to find time to do their homework together. Aww.

Simon: Do you have to do that, Watcher? It's kinda embarrassing...

Watcher: She can't hear me. No one but you and you brother and parents can hear me.

Simon: Oh, that's good to know.

Watcher: But they can hear you when you talk out loud to me...

Simon even managed to get acquainted with his grandmother, Gloria, who is a paparazzi. She rocks those owl dungarees.

She doesn't seem that keen on him though.

I laughed too. That expression seemed to be a mixture of disgust and surprise.  :P

Chapter 5 - Boys and Buckets
« Reply #22 on: June 07, 2013, 11:43:39 AM »
Hugo's toddler days seemed a lot shorter than Simon's, probably because I spread his toddler skills out a little more. Here are some of his cutest screenshots:

N'aw  :)

But, as I said, it wasn't long until his birthday. Mummy took her little boy to the cake.

Looking good, Hugo! He rolls Loner to go with his Good and Loves the Outdoors traits.

School finally finished for the week and I rewarded Simon and Hugo with a treehouse! This particular one is my favourite because of the slide! Simon spends Saturday in it, on the lookout for... something.

Simon: Hmmm... we're safe for now...

(From what?!)

Hugo: Simon! Are you coming down? Dad said he'd take us fishing!

Simon: AH! Intruder!

Hugo: Ahhheeeeee!

Hugo: SIMON!!

Hugo calms himself down by playing chess. Alone.

Watcher: You do realize that chess is traditionally a two-player game, right?

Hugo: Ssh, Watcher! He's got me in check...

Watcher: ...

Hugo: I win!!

Watcher: And you also lose.

Hugo: I knew that...

In other news...

Pat: I'm pregnant again! I can't wait to fill the world with more children! Children, children, CHILDREN!!

However, her old personality shines through straight away...

Pat: ... children.

I neglected Hugo's makeover for a while but I did get it done. I didn't think any of the hair really suited him so I gave him a hat.

Chapter 6 - A baby and a Birthday
« Reply #23 on: June 08, 2013, 03:58:18 AM »
Winter finally arrives in my game and the snow starts to fall. It's just as annoying as the rain, actually.

The family host a (very) unsuccessful gift giving party where no gifts are actually given because apparently I didn't clear enough space. I'd moved half the living room furniture into storage for goodness' sake!

At least Asta enjoyed it. She made a friend of the horsey kind.

Moving inside the house, I caught this...

Moving on from that...

Simon takes his eating-outside-in-terrible-weather thing to the next level:

Pat's baby bump continues to grow and Bert was thrilled to be a Daddy again (they blackmailed me by both popping the wishes to have a child with each other... I couldn't say no!)

And then, late one night, while at the easel, Pat goes into labour.

Bert still doesn't get the message about how women in labour shouldn't drive the car on icy roads but they do manage to get to the hospital in one piece.

After a couple of hours, Pat brings out a daughter! Her name is Emmelie, or 'Emmy' for shor, and she's friendly and (ironically) love the heat.

The minute they get home, Simon decides to hold his child-to-teen birthday party. What?! Already? He was just a nooboo yesterday...

Simon rolls the Good Sense of Humor trait to go with Loves the Outdoors, Good and Virtuoso.

I expected him to get his Dad's fluffiness but he's actually stick thin, like his mother. I think he got the best of his parents' features and he looks absolutely adorable!

He sticks with the orange/yellow clothes because I refuse to give grey clothes to any Sim of mine, favourite colour or not!

Sorry about the super-short chapter there! I'm just trying to use up the screenshots I have.

Welcome to the world Emmy! She clearly isn't impressed with the heat outside Pat! You're right, Simon is a very cute teen and I never dress my sims in grey unless I'm playing a game where the children are at an old 'orphanage' or I'm playing old sims.

Chapter 7 - Dodgy Dad Dancing
« Reply #25 on: June 08, 2013, 08:43:37 AM »
Now that he's a teenager, I felt Simon needed his own room, because up to that point, he and Hugo were sharing the big room and Emmy had the nursery. So I divided the big room in half and redecorated Simon's side:

He gets started on his piano skill. I want him to go into the music buisness like his Dad and piano will be pointless then, but it just seemed to suit him.

He decides to creep me out one night by playing 'Three Blind Mice' when I'm sitting all alone in my dark bedroom at night... creepy.

He also looks after Emmy when his Mum is in bed and his Dad is at work. It looks like he's going to be a great father one day.

Buckley has his birthday but it's very insignificant. He doesn't even change that much in terms of looks.

Not the best time to hit the 'P' button!

Asta is very old now, at nearly 60 days old. She's reached the end of her age bar so the Grim might be paying her a visit some time soon. When I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen a horse death, so I suppose that'll be something new.
In the meantime, Simon makes sure she's happy and has an endless supply of carrots.

Simon misses his first day at High School because he and Hugo have a snow day! Hugo spends it in the treehouse.

And making snow angels...

Simon invites over the recently aged-up Bridgette so they can spend some quality time together.

Simon: I really like you, Bridgette.

Bridgette: Me too -- mmpphh!!

Ah, young love. And it seems Bert and Pat are completely oblivious to the fact that Simon is kissing a girl.

I'd tell them to get a room, but these guys are just so sweet together!

Simon asks Bridgette to be his girlfriend and she happily accepts.

Their day in spoiled slightly by the fact that a fire breaks out inside the house.

However, Bridgette jumps to the rescue with her brave trait and the fire is quickly extinguished. Simon and Bert just do the panic dance.

The next day is Snowflake Day, so Hugo and Simon miss school again, and Bert and Pat are off work. They decide to try another gift giving party and I clear the entire living room to make space for the presents.

But guess what? Apparently there still isn't enough space for the present pile! Argh!

However, I get the Gobo out of storage and it ends up being a nice little party. Just look at Simon and Bridgette slow dancing.

Then Bert and Pat join in and you nearly want to cry because it's so beautiful *sniffle*

However, Bridgette's Dad, Kanoa Parrott, kind of ruins the atmosphere with some dodgy Dad dancing. To classical music. *facepalm*

Simon's not a bad looking teen. Here's hoping it all works out between him and Bridgette.

...and I think it's a parent's job to embarrass their kid. Kanoa is just doing what comes naturally. :P

Thanks, guys. I think Simon and Bridgette are just so adorable together and it's even better because they've been friends ever since Simon's first day at school  :)

And I can certainly relate to poor Bridgette because my Dad does crazy Dad dancing all the time, in front of my friends and in public. It's just awful  :P

Kanoa is inappropriate; it's just a part of him to be an embarrassment.

Simon is still cute. I've always liked the Bedlingtons, but I never quite noticed how nice their genes are.
