Chapter 16 - A Last Word

Hello. It's Azure - I asked Snow if I could borrow the book for one last entry. See, today is my last day in Sunset Valley. When I say it like that it sounds like a summer camp or something, but this is my life, and I'm leaving it. Snow asked me if I could stay longer if I wanted to, and I avoided the question. If I truly wanted to squeeze a few more days out of my body I could, but I don't. I love my family, of course, but the love of my life and the rest of my family is already gone. I will reunite with the brothers and sisters that I haven't seen for 90 years, except in the night sky. And of course Leighton will be there, and we can spend eternity together in the clouds.

I will still be with Snow, Lewit, Laila, Azrael, Abdiel, and Rain - in a sense. I will be gone out of their sight but I can still watch over them from the skies. Maybe if I am a good girl I can even get permission to visit them in mortal form.

It's strange how much the years have changed my perspective, even since I last wrote to you. Now when Lewit throws up because of a Floor Hyginator malfunction I don't fly off the handle - no, I shake my head and laugh when he tells me that "This time I've definitely got it, Mom!"

And when my daughter comes home from a date with the stride of pride, I don't ground her, I just look the other way because her love life is none of my business.

Snow's an Adult now, having aged up the day after Mother came, on the last day of my life. We didn't throw a party, so it was only our suddenly small family that cheered for her. She's decided to give up fighting the braid that came back to her when she aged up.

Leighton's ghost came last night, and although I know that it's just an echo of the real Leighton I still hugged him and told him I would come to him soon.

I called a genie to me today, just because I had way too many Lifetime Happiness points to ever spend properly. I wished for more wishes, so that I can pass the lamp on to Snow.

 I've got my will all written down giving away Leighton's Moodlet Manager to Sam, My Cloudinator 9000 to Lewit, and my weather machine and genie lamp to Snow.

Snow has been so distraught today, and there is no consoling her. I've explained that she can't tell anyone about our lineage except for her heir, that it must remain a secret. She keeps asking why I can't stay just a little longer. Why do both her parents have to leave at once? So I look into those incredible deep eyes, a perfect blend of Leighton and I's genes, and I lie to her because if she knew I was choosing death over her it would hurt her.

I have to go now. It is half an hour to midnight and I can see Grim, shimmering just out of this dimension, waiting politely for me to finish writing. Thank you for following my journey through my life.

Goodbye.

Such a touching, bittersweet goodbye. Leighton is a favorite of mine and I always hate it when he passes. :( Azure's words are beautiful and oh-so-appropriate. It's sad to know that she too will be gone soon, but the legacy will live on.

Lovely chapter. :)

Chapter 17

Hey, it's Snow again. Mom's gone, but I suppose that's no real surprise to you, is it? I can't believe that she had to leave, but at least she will be with Dad again, and she explained that she isn't really gone, that she can still take care of us from the clouds. But she's not here anymore, not a solid shoulder to cry on or a supporting hand on my shoulder.

It happened last night at midnight, just as she said it would. She was sitting at the table, patiently waiting for the clock to run out, having just finished her last entry in the book. It would be then, ten minutes before midnight, that I would get the news.

She stood up, a peaceful smile on her face.
   "Wait! Mom!"
   She looked at me. "I have waited long enough, Snow. I have to go."
   "No, I just wanted to tell you, before you leave - I'm pregnant!" I waited for her reaction. She gasped in delight.

   "That's wonderful! Is it with that Steele fellow?"
   "Yeah Mom, Simon's the father."
   "This is so exciting! I wonder if it'll be a girl or a... oh."
   "What is it?"
   "I love you Snow, and I wish you all the luck. Remember, I'm not really gone." She started glowing then, and floating, just as I knew she would. I took her hand desperately for the last time.
   "Goodbye, Mom. We'll miss you."

She's gone. I stood there, all out of tears from the last two days. It's just been too much, you know? First Dad, now Mom, finding out I'm descended from stars, meeting Selene, and now my pregnancy. Mom left us all gifts, giving out both her lifetime rewards and little things like flowers and bottles of nectar.

That morning it began to snow again. Rebecca was pleased.

I called Simon over to tell him the news.
   "Simon... you're going to be a daddy!"

He was excited, and he agreed to move in with me. He's a great father to be, but I'm not sure how much help he'll be with the actual kid.

He also got a makeover, and much as I loved that hat of his it had to go. I'm also not a fan of the sunglasses in the shirt, but one step at a time, right?

Here's a shot of Rain, just because he's adorable.

Since my pregnancy has kept me from my usual practices of Sim Fu, I've begun working on the meditation aspect of it. One day I was just sitting there, meditating, thinking about my meeting with Selene, when BAM I was at the pond, in front of the big stone head.

I've heard the legends of Sim Fu masters being able to teleport, but I never thought I'd get to that level. I decided to try it again right away (maybe not the greatest idea considering how pregnant I was at that point) and I meditated for a few more hours before being able to 'zenport' home.

Then I immediately went into labour.

I drove myself to the hospital, because some people were to busy screaming at me to help me out.

I had a lovely surprise there - twin girls, China and Song Angel. We made them a beautiful sunny nursery, painted in their favourite colours orange and yellow.

Already they are far more work than Rain ever was, especially since there's two of them. They're fussy, and whenever one of them starts to cry they both start wailing.

Speaking of Rain, he seems pretty unconcerned by the new arrivals, despite how Mommy and 'Daddy' spend all their time with them. When they arrived he didn't even look twice at them.

Sam and Rain had their birthdays on the same day, so we threw a big party for them, like we haven't done since Spooky Day.

Isn't Rain adorable? He looks almost exactly like I did at that age, which makes me happy. I don't want to be reminded of Kory every time I look at my son.

Now, who's cake could this be with all the candles on it?

Yeah, that's right, Sam's an elder now.

That's all for today. Next time I think we're going to China as a birthday trip for Rain. I'll see you then!

Chapter 18 - Broken

China was amazing. No, not my daughter (although she is amazing), but the country that Rain, Simon, and I visited on the weekend. I decided to test out my skills on the Chinese pro Sim Fu circuit. It was tougher than I expected, being at the top of the Academy, but then I'd only ever trained against dummies.

While I was doing that, Rain and Simon went on adventures together. They checked out a tomb, the market place, and ran around the countryside gathering lapis lazuli for a guy.

Again though, it was over too soon, and we were back home in just three days... Right in time for Simon's adult birthday! We threw him a party and he grew up looking exactly the same as he did before. He didn't have a midlife crisis, thank the Watcher. He's Flirty, so I can imagine what his wishes would be.

The next day it was the twins' birthday. I took China to the cake and set her on the ground she sparkled and spun up into an adorable little toddler.. with her Grandmother's stunning eyes. I'm thrilled that she got them, when I thought that the brilliant colour was lost from our line.

Then it was time for Song to go up to the cake. Simon took her, and blew out the candles.. Then disaster struck.

   "Simon!" I screamed, spotting his personal butt fire among all the other flames, "Get to the shower!" But Simon didn't respond. He just stood there, ignoring both my panicked shouts and the Watcher's furious clicking. He stood like that for nearly an hour as the flames rose around him, cradling Song.

Just as the firemen arrived something seemed to break the trance, and he sprinted outside.

I let out a big sigh of relief, thinking that he was going to extinguish himself in the snow. But I was wrong. So wrong.

Simon set Song down, and then he was gone. I just stared, not believing it, not even when Grim came and Simon's fiery ghost appeared. There was no way that he could be gone too.

I dropped to the ground, not crying, not yet, just staring down. I was vaguely aware of Sam ushering all of the guests out of the house, and Lewit coming to collect Song from the snow. She was a toddler at that point, a toddler with her father's eyes.

Eventually I got up and stared at the sky, at the stars that stared down at me. And  I was angry.

   "Why?" I shouted at them. "Why did he have to go? Why do any of them have to go?" Lewit came out of the house behind me and put a hand on my shoulder. I shook him off. "Please," I wailed, "Are you there? Is anyone there? Selene? Mom?" Lewit took my hand more firmly and pulled me back to the house. I noticed the Landgraabs outside their house, watching me in their housecoats.
   "Come on Snow," Lewit muttered. "Let's go to bed." I let him take me out of sight of the sky. There isn't anything there anyways, just orbs of burning gas and space, cold and empty. Dead.

Over the next few days I tried everything that I had when Kory happened. I binged on cake and nectar, I danced in clubs, I downed random potions from the elixir store. Nothing helped, because on the night that Simon died, something vital inside me was broken. And I don't think any amount of tape will fix it.

Well this is a cakewalk compared to when Azure had triplets... on top of three other kids.  :o  THAT drove me mad!

Hi! I'm back! Sorry I haven't posted anything in so long, but I come armed with pathetic excuses! First I went on vacation for a couple weeks, then when I came back there were computer troubles, and my screenshots were deleted  :( Here's a quick summary: Snow's an elder, all three children are teens, and  we have a bunch of new horses. Everything else I think I can go over in the next update, coming soon. Hope you guys understand!

Chapter 19 - China Angel

Hey! My name is China Angel. This is me:

My mom gave me this book today, she said it was kinda like a diary except Mom and Grandma Azure have already written in it. Lame, right? But it seemed important to her.

My Grandma Azure was apparently an angel. Like, a real one, from heaven and stuff. That's what my mom told me, anyways, but if she was an angel, why did she up and die before I even met her? Real angels don't die,  that's the whole point. Maybe Mom's crazy. Uncle Lewit says that she has 'a lot of pain' in her, from when my dad died. But that was like fifteen years ago. I don't remember him at all. I guess that's a little sad.

So, if this is a diary, should I write down what I did today? I'll tell you; I got in trouble. Deep trouble. Uncle Lewit ranted at me for like an hour, lecturing me on how I take things for granted and my education is important blah blah blah.

But you see, I already know what I want to do with my life, and I don't need school for that. I'm going to be an artist! Not just a painting artist like my Uncle Sam though; I want to take pictures too. So obviously going to see the Greatest Sims of Art exhibit at the art gallery, which is only in town for ONE day, is waaaay more important than a day of school, right?

My twin sister, Song, is really boring. She keeps telling me that locking my Lifetime Wish in when I'm only a teen is a huge mistake that I'll regret for the rest of my life, because getting my fifth trait when I age up will change EVERYTHING for me. Yeah right.
This is Song.

We already know what she's going to do with her life, but she's too cautious to lock it in. She's going to take over the horses when Uncle Lewit is too old to do it, kinda like I'm going to take over the portrait painting from Uncle Sam. She spends all her free time either playing with the foal Uncle Lewit got her or trying to ride Jewel, the retired race horse.

She's not very good at it.

Uncle Lewit says that until she can stay on gentle old  Jewel, there's no way he's letting her on Queen, Jewel's foal. Queen is a world champion, but not very nice.

Then there's my brother, Rain. He's an odd one. He's been the unluckiest of us all in his trait rolls, with Grumpy and Mean-Spirited. He's always picking fights with random people. Plus, once he got grounded for trying to cover the principal's office in toilet paper (zero originality), and he's been sneaking around ever since. Like, not trying not to be noticed, but doing this creepy burglar walk.

I have to go to sleep now, or Uncle Lewit will get me in even bigger trouble. I'll write again tomorrow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had some birthdays today. In the middle of the night Song's horse grew up, so now she can fail at riding him too.
Then Rain had his party. Everyone in this picture  is related to me!
Rain made a wish (with me cheering in my adorable formal dress), and blew out the candles.
Then he sparkled and turned into this guy!
Thankfully he went and washed out that silly turquoise in his hair, but he's still got the sneaking.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh my Watcher! It's Uncle Sam! He..... he's gone. We'd all gone to bed, but then we woke up in the middle of the night and we knew something was wrong. It's not like we didn't expect this soon, he was even older than Mom... but I'll miss him. He's done all the portraits of our family from the very beggining, so he never did his own.

Mom seems really torn up about it. I mean, the whole family is, but Mom especially. I looked at Grandma Azure's entries in this book, and it looks like he pretty much raised her when she was a toddler.

I'll write again soon.
