Redeeming Faith - The Angel Legacy 9/23
« on: April 22, 2013, 06:41:55 PM »
When I woke up this morning, I knew what was coming. I knew that I would be... ejected from the City of Clouds, onto earth. I'd done my research on mortal culture, learned about how to care for my own mortal body. But nothing could prepare me for this.

That being said, I'm not disappointed with the way my eternal soul transmuted into a body. I could be worse off, really.
Oh! Introductions! My name is Azure Angel. It's not, really, but if I uttered my true name on Earth, bad things will happen. I believe your word for it is 'apocalypse'.
I am a Gatherer, a Hopeless Romantic, a Natural Cook, Artistic, and I have a Good Sense of Humour. I'm really going to need that last one.
See, I've been sent to Earth, Sunset Valley to be precise, as a kind of punishment. I have to live out one mortal lifespan, luckily starting at young adulthood, and bring back the experiences and wisdom I gain when my body fails and my soul is free to go back to my City.
But for now all I need is a job, so that I don't starve to death. If I die before my time is up, I will have to live all eternity in different Sim bodies. That does not sound like a good time to me. So I head down to the town, looking for a place of work that suits my traits. Eventually I decide on the bistro. I am a natural cook, so I already have an advantage. besides that, the work hours, starting late and ending later, gives me time all day to roam town. Maybe I'll even make some friends!

I decide to head back to the plot of land that was my Father's (the one who sent me here) contribution to my well being. He's set up a little camp for me, one with just enough for me to sort of live semi-comfortably.

Since I've got the easel anyways, I spend the rest of the day getting reacquainted with the brush and paint. Making art feels very different on Earth than it did in the Clouds.

Later I realize that I haven't enough light to paint buy without the light of my Father strolling across the sky (he's called the sun here, which is a little ironic), so I lay down in my sleeping bag and watch my brothers and sisters slowly dance above me. I bet they're laughing at me.

When I wake up the next morning I am aware of a strange hollow, painful sensation in my midsection. I must be hungry. Since Father hasn't seen fit to provide me with any way to get food, I dig into my rather limited funds to buy breakfast at the diner in town. This reminds me that I have to know how to cook to work in the bistro, and I have no idea. I head to the library, which I've heard is where mortals keep all their knowledge. Sure enough, I find a book that details exactly what I need to know.

Later some mortals come in. I glance up from my book, startled, as I have yet to encounter them face to face. However one of them, who introduces herself as Yumi, seems very friendly. she's carrying a bald little nooboo, but she laughs when I ask if he's her son.

Our conversation is interrupted by screams of panic from outside. We rush out and run across the street to the bistro. There's a hot orange light that I realize is fire. However, with no experience with the stuff before, I get too close.

I realize quickly that if I don't do anything I will perish and never get back to the Clouds, and the sims around me seem more interested in putting out the blazing table than saving me, not even reacting to my terrified screams. I try to think, reviewing in my head a map of the area. I realize that there's a pool just down the street. I start running.

Ahh. I never thought I'd feel so happy to fall into a pool fully clothed. Unfortunately this entire episode has made me late for work. I sprint back towards the bistro. When I get there the fire is almost out, although another sim has fallen into the same predicament as me, and he didn't have the sense to run for the pool. I tried to extinguish him, but I was just a few agonizing seconds too late.

Now I'm both late and traumatized, even though I know his soul is going to a good place, but apparently my new boss doesn't take any excuses. I have to work extra hard to make up to her, and when I leave work late that night I'm exhausted, overworked, hungry, and totally stressed.

Next up: More fire and a new friend

Author's note: This is based off of Pinstar's Legacy, but without quite as many rules. I'm sort of playing it how I feel, and focusing on the characters instead of the points and stuff. Hope you guys like it! If you have any constructive criticism or advice I'd be happy to hear it!

I really like this so far! Azure is so pretty, and I love her clothes.
Just a little thing, maybe you should have put this in the legacy section?

Thanks so much!  :D I was considering it, and if any mods disagree with me they can certainly move it. I'm playing a legacy without the strict rules, so I'm not constantly focused on skilling, or whatever else is in a legacy (I'm not even 100% sure of all the rules). I'm going to be playing with the whole bloodline/heir aspect of it, no cheating, and trying to get as many generations in as possible, but I don't know if it really counts.

Azure is so pretty and her clothes suit her well. Nice choice, and I want to know about the clothes if you don't mind ;D
Do you use mods to make Sims this pretty OwO?

This is a great start and interesting concept of story that you got there.
I can't wait to see more!

Chapter 2 - Fire and Water
Living outside really sucks, you know? It's the middle of summer now and usually even before I wake up I'm sweating in my sleeping bag. This morning it hit record temperatures. A few minutes after I got out of my sleeping bag I already looked like this.

Despite looking like I'd been barbecued and feeling like my skin was several sizes too small, I tried to go about my morning routine. Toilet, brushing my teeth, getting the mail -WHOAH!
Spontaneous combustion sucks. Luckily my shower was right there, but really? Twice in as many days? Then, of course, I had to go to work looking absolutely beautiful.

Another great day for me!
The next morning I wake up feeling considerably more optimistic, even though it's hailing. It's my day off, and I'm going to  take the time to visit the town and maybe make some friends. After some consideration I end up at Yumi's house, not really knowing anyone else yet. Luckily she doesn't seem surprised that the woman she talked to for about 10 minutes has showed up unannounced at her house.

We talked for a while, and then her son came in. I think Yumi might have been trying to set us up!

Psst... It might have been working! Eventually, though, I had to leave. I'd gotten an oppourtunity to teach some children at the school an art class, and I was excited not only for the money but for seeing the children, too, as I haven't yet. Yumi and I make plans for tomorrow though, because it'll be Leisure Day! I'm surprised to find myself looking forward to one of these mortal customs of celebrating the seasons, even though this one happens to celebrate none other than my own dear daddy. I head to the diner again for dinner.

I can't wait until I've saved enough for my own kitchen set, and maybe some walls. It's a full moon tonight, so I should have a fun sleepover with these things.

Next up: Accidental romance

Author's note: Sorry this one's so short, I gotta get ready for school. If I can I'll post the rest later today!

Thanks! The dress is actually just a recolour of one that came with Ambitions, and if you want I can pm you the necklace, shoes, and hair. No mods were used in the making of this story!  :P And that was Stiles McGraw that got reaped.  :(

I'm sorry, but it's kind of hilarious how easily she can catch on fire. I feel so sorry for Azure to have to live outside in summer!

Fingers crossed that Leighton moves in--I love him, and Azure needs someone who can handle a fire extinguisher!

Chapter 3 - A Taste of What's to Come

Today was a great day. It was Leisure Day, so Yumi and I spent the day together. I'm so glad I've already made a new friend! And one with such a cute son, too! I asked Leighton if he wanted to come with us, but he said that he'd already committed to spending a father-son day with Sam, his kid. Isn't that just the sweetest? Yumi pulled me out the door almost before I could tell them to have a good time.
   "We're going to the beach!"
Personally, I could have done with some time out of the sun. Maybe the art gallery, or the library? But there's no arguing with Yumi! She's a force of nature.

Luckily I didn't burn to an almost literal crisp today.
The next few days are a blur of frenzied working. When I'm not at the library reading up on cooking, I'm at Yumi's house watching TV with her and her family. Finally I get that promotion that I've been working towards - I'm now a Spice Runner! Woo!

After a good nights sleep I call Yumi to invite her out for a nice breakfast at the diner to celebrate. But instead of Yumi showing up, it's Leighton. We've become good friends over the last few days, so we decide to eat together despite the 'misunderstanding' I think Yumi set us up. As we were about to part ways he leaned in for a big hug.

But when we were so close together I just couldn't help myself. I leaned in that extra two centimetres...

He didn't seem to mind!
I'm practically living at the Sekemoto's house now. Sam and I get along well.

Leighton and I get along even better!

And my new salary allowed me to save up enough for some walls and a roof! Still no cooking appliances, but I'm working on it.

Author's Note: I'm having a great time with this, and every little positive comment makes me so happy! ;D I'm going to try and make the chapters a little longer, but right now I'm kinda squeezing them in between homework, school, and getting enough sleep. See you guys soon!

Chapter 4 - Mine Forever

My, so much has happened since least time I saw you! I'll start a few days ago, where I left off last time. I decided to tell Yumi what my intentions were regarding her son. I knew that she liked to see us together, but I couldn't not be nervous, for some reason. Thankfully Yumi was extremely enthusiastic about me joining the family.

"So, when's the big day?" she asked. I had to confess that I hadn't actually talked to Leighton about it yet. Yumi just laughed. I called him up to ask him to see the art gallery with me. Ideally I would have liked to propose on the beach, but the endless rain gets in the way of a lot of things here. Leighton didn't suspect a thing, though I'd thought that one look at my nervous fidgeting and the bulge in my pocket would have given me away immediately. Eventually he realized that I wasn't as interested in the art as I usually am, and he asked why. That's when I made my move.

He said yes! We hurried back to his house to give the news to Yumi. She was thrilled, if not surprised, but Sam was a different story.

The next day my boss invited me to a Spooky day party. I can't believe it's been more than a whole season since I arrived in Sunset Valley! I would have preferred to spend the day on the phone with Yumi, discussing my wedding plans, but I really should make more friends then are in my immediate family.

When I went to the party, though, all I could talk about was Leighton and my wedding! I think I bored everyone half to death.

Plus, there was another girl who had the same costume as me. I actually didn't care, but from what I understand that's a big social no-no.

Finally it's my wedding day! I woke up this morning excited but terrified. I've grown accustomed to my solitary life up here on the hill, going down to the town for breakfast, spending time at the library and at the Sekemoto's, and repeating that the next day. This wedding will change my life. Plus, Leighton has convinced me to bring in Sam and Yumi with him. Of course I was letting Sam join the family, but Yumi took some convincing. He eventually sold me on how she could help take care of our future nooboos while both of us are at work. That took me by surprise at first. Nooboos? I never even considered them as part of my life. Then again, I never considered a love, a husband, a best friend. My idea was to dully serve out my time here, waiting for my mortal body to fail and my soul to be freed back to the clouds. Who would have thought that these mortals were so appealing?
On a less.. philosophical subject, here I am in my wedding dress! We're having the ceremony in the art gallery, since that's where I proposed. I can hardly wait!

Finally it's time to commit myself to the man I've grown to love. It feels like fate, like all the variables have lined up to bring us together at last.

Then it's done, and I am a married woman! I couldn't be any more happy if I tried.

To top it off, when my newly expanded family of four comes back to the Angel estate with me, we immediately expand my rudimentary shelter into a tiny but adequate dwelling. We cut it so close that until Leighton and I bring home our next paycheck, we will only have 12 simoleans. Here's our new cottage!

But really, the new space and actual cooking equipment are just icing on the cake, especially when Leighton shows me exactly what double beds are for!

However, just as we finished up, I heard a soft chorus of angels from what sounded like just out of sight, singing something like 'Rock-a-bye Baby'. Leighton didn't hear it, so I must assume it's a message from my sisters. What could it mean?

Next time: I'm sure you can guess!   ;)

Author's Note: I am so glad to finally be out of that oppressively small hut Azure was living in! I am in love with this story right now, enjoying every minute of gameplay. I hope you like it as much as I do  ;D

Sorry to break it to you but the headings are too big.

The guideline is that all font should be black and no larger than 12pt for the body of the story and 14pt for any headings.

Hooray! Azure getting married her prince charming! At least she is! Azure is cute in her costume. I never thought that she will love to wear that. I means she is deserved a better costume, you know :3

Well, I can see the next chapter gonna be about nooboo, nooboo and nooboo XD
Umm... Nooboo is boring anyway :P I hope to see Azure toddler better :P

Chapter 5 - Snow Angels

The morning after my wedding I woke up in the wee hours and ran to the bathroom.

Ugh. This is one of the disadvantages of mortal bodies - they're so frail that they can't even take in large quantities of delicious wedding cake (a mortal food, I might add), without having to be rid of it later.
Later on, when I wake up again, I am very glad that I allowed Yumi to move in. She has great experience cooking food, even if she lacks my natural eye for it.

She also cleans house when Leighton and I are busy.

And in her spare time she keeps us all up to date on current events.

Not bad for a woman of 87, hmm? I only hope I can be as amazing as her when I'm that age.
I was in the library, as I often am, studying cooking for my job, when it happened. I felt.. strange. I stood abruptly and put down my book. Then I realized what was going on. I hesitated, wondering what to do now, then rushed home to spread the news.

I'm pregnant!
Leighton was thrilled, of course, and Yumi was simply overjoyed to have another grandchild on the way.

Both Leighton and I rolled wishes for a boy, but I'd also love a little girl. Boys seem too rowdy to me, especially after seeing Sam work through childhood. That reminds me, Sam has entered the moody teenager stage now. We threw a party for him, making everyone squeeze into our tiny kitchen. He sparkled, spun...

And grew up!

Yumi seems to find that quite amusing, for some reason. I, for one, am fascinated, having never seen a mortal birthday before.
The baby's almost here and there's only one problem. Where on earth do we squeeze in another person, even one as small as a nooboo? We build a nursery, and it leaves us with seven simoleans in the bank. Seven?? Plus, the room looks more like a closet than somewhere to raise a child.

There's nothing to be done, I suppose. The scarcity of funds is taking its toll on Leighton though.

I take him outside and we sit together. I assure him that we'll pull through. We will always be fighting together to keep ourselves fed and sheltered, and what in the universe can defeat the two of us? Eventually he calms down and we just sit together, enjoying each other's company and the night sky. I point to my mother who sheds a silver light over Sunset Valley.

"Isn't she beautiful?" I ask. Leigh just laughs and draws me closer.
That night after we go to sleep the clouds gather and dump nearly 20 centimeters of snow. Sam is ecstatic, as he doesn't have to go to school.

I'm a little worried about the roads, considering how close I am to giving birth.

I headed to the library. It's much closer to the hospital, and I know that one of my friends (the other library regulars) will give me a ride if I need it. Sure enough, I've only just picked out a book when the pains come.

I rush to the hospital and one of the nurses calls Leighton. He makes the journey in a record ten minutes and watches helplessly as I push. Eventually, out pops baby! She's a girl, the most beautiful baby girl there ever was. Meet my sweet little Snow Angel, named after the weather on her birthday.

Do you remember on my wedding day when I told you that I couldn't be any happier if I tried? I lied. When I saw my little angel's face for the first time my stupidly frail mortal heart nearly burst from my chest. She means everything to me, more than my own life. I want her to be safe and happy for the rest of her life, even if I have to sacrifice everything. When I look into her curious eyes I can see her soul glinting in the depths, and it is pure. My little nooboo is Good and a Light Sleeper.
That night I stand outside, watching the silver moon as she climbs into the sky.

Suddenly she fades, leaving the sky dark except for the last remnants of my father's light behind me.
I hear a voice, soft as a whisper behind me. "Azure?"
Before I even turn I know who it is.

"Mother?"

Next time: An unwelcome (?) visitor.
