This contest comes from an idea by Vinyl in the suggestions thread, I'm sure it will be great to have some new options to use!  :)

A question was just asked about whether those without WA could still build an entry for a WA world such as Champ Les Sims but in SV or RV - that is perfectly fine.  :) If anyone else wishes to do so they may!

Mama Maddie's Motel

Lot size: 40x50 (I like putting it on the upper ledge of AP where Varg's Tavern is typically placed)
Lot value: 78,631 (When placed in position described above, it is still under 85,000)
Content: Pets
Bed spaces: 10
Bathrooms: 4 showers, several toilet stalls

Thank you, Watcher.

I have been making a lot of big decisions lately, and thus decided to spend a relaxing night at the new motel in town.

Look at that! I suppose Nerrissa is all settled in, let's go inside.

I  guess this is where the receptionist sits...
"What's that slacker up to now!"
Now, Now.

What a nice kitchen; it's cozy. I made myself a breakfast of pancakes on their wonderful stove-top. Yum!

After breakfast I played some music and started a fire. I love the atmosphere in here. I can't wait to bring some life to this place!

I washed up in the communal, but no less private and sanitary bathroom. And went to scope out the bedrooms.

I was surprised at how nice the bedrooms were, considering the size. Tonight I think I'll sleep in the first room I visited.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you'll consider staying at Mama Maddie's on your next visit to Appaloosa Plains!

For those of you wanting to use the Base Camp lot designation here are a few things that have been brought to our attention and I googled them for answers. (Disclaimer: I haven't tried these in game so please PM the contest team if these don't actually work.)

1) In order to edit current Base Camps in the WA worlds you need to activate a couple cheats in Edit Town (according to this thread at the official site)
    a) testingcheatsenabled true
    b) enablelotlocking true
    c) Click on the base camp lot you want to edit
    d) There will be a padlock symbol next to the save, share, buy/build, etc. icons. Click it so that the lock appears open (unlocked)
This will change the build/buy icon so you can click on it and edit the lot.

2) Stoves cannot be added to community lots (even building as a residential lot and then changing the lot to a community one doesn't work) so food preparation options are limited to grills.

Is it ok to build it as a residential lot, then use CAW to change it to a base camp lot, then save it to the library?

From the research that I did, people are saying that doesn't work either with the version of CAW EA has released for our use. I don't have, nor will I be getting CAW, so I can't check. Chuckles, feel free to do a test and I'll chat with Tom and Ausette about it.

EDIT: The information was that even if you use CAW to create a Base Camp designated lot, the stoves still get removed when the lot is placed in another world through Edit Town.

Oh what a pity. I know they stay and get exported if you leave it where it is. I had hoped that method would work. I used that method for the fire station in Cypress Lakes.

I think I just successfully placed a stove in a Base Camp, exported it, downloaded it, placed it back into an adventure world, and then was able to use it!  Note that the stoves only work in a travel world - placing any base camp in a normal world results in non-functional decorative stoves.

Here's how I did it:

-Whichever lot is the base camp building lot, make sure there's a nearby visible lot
-Build on the nearby lot and place a stove
-Switch to the base camp lot
-With testingcheatsenabled true, ctrl+shift+click on the nearby stove and select the 'clone item' option*
-Place the duplicate stove on the base camp lot

That's it!  As long as this method is allowed for building contests it's a simple way to get stoves into base camps.  If anyone feels like triple confirming the stoves stay and transfer with the export/download just let me know.

*I feel compelled to note that ctrl+shift has to be held down in order to clone an item.  It wasn't until this morning I figured out how to clone things successfully.   :-[

I have a question.

If you are using CFE to make your base camp, as in high rises, are level skip markers OK?

A direct quote from the Building Contest rules: "All Apartment Markers are Banned: Hidden Room Markers and Level Skip Markers etc, unless a contest specifically allows them".

This contest doesn't state that apartment markers are allowed so you may not use any of them, sorry.

Vinyl's stove cloning method for adding usable stoves to Base Camp lots as explained above is OK to use.

For those of you that have already submitted an entry, you are allowed to edit your current lot and add a stove (or 2), provided you remain within the budget. If you need to remove a counter to place the stove, you may do so. You may not make any other changes! Please replace your current attached lot with the updated one.

This contest runs until Saturday, May 4th so you guys still have plenty of time. :D
