Mean Spirited: The King of Mood Traits?

Most people don't put much thought to this trait. Instead, they take overemotional, and that is a good trait, what with increasing all moodlets by 25%. However, mean spirited is better. Let's look at its advantages:

1. Gets a +10 moodlet when near an enemy.
2. Wins fights 40% more often (Except against mean, brave, or evil sims).
3. Has more "mean" interactions.

These don't make it very good, right? However, there is a fourth one (Maybe it should be added to the guide?). Namely, for every single enemy the mean spirited sim has, it gains +5 permanant mood! (Or at least until the enemy sim isn't an enemy, or dies). Making another sim your enemy is quite easy. Merely a rude introduction, then declare nemesis. (A few 100 point wishes or so may appear) This stacks up very quickly. I once made a sim with about 25 enemies. +125 permenant mood boost, all the time. He never had to do anything to help his mood again, Outstanding mood work metrics, etc. What are your thoughts?

This is interesting. I've played a mean Sim just briefly for kicks — nothing serious...just to check out fighting and insulting for laughs. I had no idea about the permanent mood boost. So, is there a visible moodlet that ties in to that boost? How exactly do you know about this permanent boost if there isn't a moodlet?

I'm convinced that Kleptomaniac is still the best  :P

Yes, it is an invisble mood boost, akin to grumpy's mood debuff. If you look closely enough at your sims mood when you make an enemy, you will notice the boost.

Had to test this one, so I ran up a character.
Traits: Evil, Mean Spirited, Genius, Ambitious, Athletic
At each count, I used the cheats to max his needs and clear out all moodlets except Having A Blast and Squeaky Clean  that refresh themselves immediately. Here are my results, labeled with the number of enemies made at that point.

So, count me convinced. That is a pretty cool little benefit.

I'd rather not make loads of enemies just to get mood up. There are better ways to go about it than that. :D

But hey, it's fun and easy to be mean-spirited! :D Not that I play those sims often, if at all. But I imagine it'd be easy to gain enemies if you have neighbors + minor (Ambitions EP) ;D. And just keep calling their mama a llama.  :o
But yeah, even so I must agree with you a bit. Mood boosts don't do all that much for me generally, I just love playing my sims and seeing them grow (or not grow).  :D But it is a big plus to know you actually get mood boosts from having enemies as a mean-spirited sim, I really want to try having a mean-spirited sim to play with! And paired with kleptomaniac, it'd be awesome.

Do I smell possible challenge strategies?  Or even an idea for a challenge in 2011?

You know, one new way to gain enemies is to have your house in the middle of town, get one of those mining things and run it late at night.  :D

That just makes them dislike you. The buff comes from declaring them as a nemesis.

I don't think so. Might be a little boring to simply walk around town an make as many enemies as possible. It would need a different twist on it — like the Romantic Interests Challenge where things have to be done in a given order. Might couple max enemies with something in the Criminal Career.

How do we know then that the permanent mood boost is +5? Is it possible to see that somewhere?

I can see it being a good strategy for one in particular challenge if you are lucky enough to get a mean-spirited sim.

I don't know exactly how much +5 is in the bar, but all the bars in that pic I posted were identical conditions except for how many enemies I had made when I snapped the pic for each one.

As for a challenge, how about a yin/yan type one:
Max out charisma, but for every friend, you must make an enemy too.

I don't know, I am not very good at sticking to things with the sims, so challenges are way out of my expertise.
