Apparently, the game makes automatic backups (I guess each time the second to last save data), so I could just copy the content of the backup file to the new file, and there it was!

This saved my day, thank you very much :) :)

btw, Pam, you were right, the problem was the original household, I guess it's because there's just one bed for two sims? I don't know, but I bought a new bed and the problem was gone. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm glad you got it worked out.  And, yes, the game makes a backup copy of your file.  Look here for details.  It's also important to backup your game yourself.  Here are instructions.  Additionally, you can save multiple copies of your file by using Save As and giving the new file a slightly different name.  For example:  Memories Challenge 1, Memories Challenge 2, etc.  I usually have three or four save files of my games.  That way, if something goes wrong, I can easily go back to another file and pick up where it left off.
