Sims 3 Store World - Dragon Valley

For some reason the photos aren't showing up    It happens on the Showboat photo thread also.  Right click show picture doesn't bring them up either.  Anyone have a suggestion?

I assumed the pictures are linked somehow to the main Sims 3 store site.  If you look at the Sims 3 store, you will see the pictures there are also not showing up.  Probably just some kind of work going on there.

Yeah I was using the ones for the Sims 3 site assuming they would go down far less than my photobucket account.  Apparently I was wrong!  I'll get them changed out as soon as the site stops being under maintenance.

So it turns out that the dragons are individual Premium Content items. 



Baby Dragon
It is no secret that dragons hoard and protect treasure. The Green Dragon is no exception. If emeralds and diamonds are what you seek, you’ll have a great new friend! But this dragon is not ALL about treasure. It can also help you harvest and grow all of the plants on your lot! It is a “Green” Dragon, after all.

Gameplay:

• Green Dragons love treasure! Watch as it calls on lightning from above to summon a special surprise!
• Plants not growing fast enough? Too many plants to harvest by yourself? The Green Dragon can help!
• Gives the new “Mark of the Green Dragon” moodlet that builds Hunger and Bladder needs!
• Talk to your dragon about your skills. It might have a tip or two for you!
• All dragons make great friends. Feed, play with, and name your new baby dragon! Or just carry it around on your shoulder to show off to your friends!
• Naming your dragon will keep townies from walking off with it!

I did suggest that might be the case. I can't wait to see what gets revealed next. Didn't they mention doing a broadcast demo-ing it before it went live, in the broadcast where they announced it? Or am I getting it mixed up with the broadcast for Island Paradise?

They said they would but considering it's 2 weeks away with no broadcast date I'm going to go with no and they'll just continue the blog revealing.

I had guessed that the colors would go with certain fuctions, green being either gardening and growing, or possible with business (green money).  The gems and metals will cover alchemy in finding the gems and metals for elixers and growing the needed plants. 
I think the next one will be blue, that can fit into water, anglers, treasure hunting under water, maybe?  Or law enforcement, that could be a slight chance in that area, but I think they are focused on the nature aspect, so fishing. 

Is it just going to be three dragons, or does anyone think it will be more?  What about the four elements, fire (the red dragon), earth (green dragon), water and wind?  The color for water would be blue, but what would be the color for wind - white ?  Could that be something they are looking at?  Guessing, of course, just speculating on what will be in the game.

15 more days until it comes out.

In wicca, air (wind) is usually associated with yellow, although that is not something they are bound to know. Yet what function would a dragon related to air contribute? There is no real flying, per se, and no skills related to air, unless you think of it in the way of creativity such as painting and writing, and the other creative skills, but the that would outnumber the others that only add to one skill. Then again, I would have thought fire to be related to cooking, so how did that get athletics instead?

When I read of athletics, it made me think of where remarks are made up like "burning up the track" as  runner would in track races, or make your muscles burn from the workout, hot and sweatly from a workout.

But cooking would fit better in the area of red, fire to cook meals, especially in that day and age where cooking was in fire pits, over hot coals. 

What about white for the air?  White clouds moving across the sky as the wind blows?

EA loves to make me eat my words.  They have scheduled a live broadcast for Dragon Valley on May 23rd so mark your calendars.   They are also going to give live introductions to the Sims 4 team which coincides with the mystery in the other thread.

If I go by the items shown for the world on the official Web site, there will be only two dragons - a red one and a green one.

The green one was added about the same time as they released the information about it.

I really want this new world!  I've been building a fantasy world in Hidden Springs, but this world looks even better as a base world, and I love the dragons!

That said, I don't really NEED a new world.  I never play in Monte Vista, and I still haven't even played in Aurora Skies.  But dragons! And the fact that the green dragon can help with gardening really pulled me in.  Gardening is a favorite skill for me to play.

A Designer’s Thoughts: Purple Baby Dragons

Over the past few blog posts I’ve discussed the brazen, fire-breathing Red Baby Dragon and more recently the earth based Green Baby Dragon and its love for all things shiny or harvestable. Today I want to write about what is arguably the most unique of the dragons, a dragon that thrives on joy, humour and happiness. A dragon that is so dang cheery it literally pukes sparkles and rainbows.

This is the Purple Baby Dragon:



While Green Baby Dragons may have them beat in the tree hugging department, Purple Baby Dragons are the hipster-est of hippies in the Baby Dragon community. They want nothing more than to see everyone around them having a good time. In fact even the grumpiest of Sims can get a steady dose of Fun and Social just by hanging out with a Purple Dragon thanks to the Mark of the Purple Dragon moodlet.



While talking to a Red Dragon can raise your Athletic Skill and talking to a Green Dragon can raise your Gardening Skill, Purple Dragons will cheerfully discuss the particulars of raising your Charisma Skill so you can meet the Sim of your dreams. 

But what happens if your Sim is a bit of a wallflower or doesn’t know where to find the special someone?  No worries, the Purple Baby Dragon has more summoning abilities than any other dragon! Purple Dragons can summon up one of your friends, help throw an amazing party, or introduce you to someone completely new!

But one of the coolest aspects of owning a Purple Baby Dragon is its Rune Charm ability. Purple Baby Dragons can imbue your Sim (or any Sim you choose) with massive bonuses to their mood, making them happier and more likeable for up to twelve hours!



If you’re looking to meet that one in a million Sim, the Purple Baby Dragon will be your ultimate “wingman”.

I like this dragon! I think I'll be needing one of each. I do, however, object to their use of the word hipster. They don't seem to have used it correctly, in my humble opinion.
