About The Sims™ 3 Dragon Valley

Welcome to Dragon Valley, a land of myth and fantasy. It’s been years since any adult dragons have terrorized this peaceful town but it’s not yet time to rest. The elven Sims of Dragon Valley are working to ensure that their military is up to par, their citizens are prepared for disaster, and that the scientific techniques they’ve used to keep the dragonlings small stay intact. The skies may be clear for now, but beneath the surface a conflict is brewing between the Mithrilen and O’Connell families for control of town. It’s tradition vs. progress; on which side will you stand?

Store link = here   |   World is not available until May 30th.  Check back for sale prices on that date!

The Standard Version is normally $25.00 which will get you the World of Dragon Valley, Red Dragon, Purple Dragon & Green Dragon Premium Content and 100 Simpoints.

The Gold Version is normally $35.00 which will get you the World of Dragon Valley, Red Dragon, Purple Dragon & Green Dragon Premium Content, The Celtic Lands set and 1900 Simpoints.

Open Your Eyes!
You all walk around with dragons on your arms as pets. But don’t you see? We’re just recovering; we’ve finally rebuilt after the original Dragons ravaged our land.

The O’Connells “land” in our world with their way of taming dragons and we’ve been following them ever since! When it was we Mithrilens that used to keep the town safe!"

Don’t let them pull the wool over your eyes.  Just look at the dragons. They are supposed to be “babies” but each one does something more dastardly than the last!

This will only end in misery.  Let me help you.  The Mithrilen family knows our ways, our traditions, and our bond with the land.  Let me guide you to safety, before it’s too late.

Mithrilen for Mayor
Before it’s too late.

As far as I can tell, Celtic Lands is only a build/buy set and not a venue.

The Gold Version is normally $35.00 which will get you the World of Dragon Valley, Red Dragon Premium Content, The Celtic Lands set and 1900 Simpoints.

Considering that $10 (the price difference between the two) would normally get you 1000 points, if you have any likely need for more points the Gold is definitely a very good deal. 800 extra points plus the Celtic Lands set.

For anyone who was able to download and purchase the world earlier today, please go to the official forums and read this thread here.

It was a glitch that you were able to get the world which is incomplete.   Keeping the world, dragon and/or Celtic set could corrupt your game and saves.

It's more than a little ridiculous that they managed to upload and put up for sale an incomplete world which was available via links on the site for at least an hour before it was taken down.  ::)

I wonder if the Celtic Lands set will eventually be sold separately.  From what we've seen with all of the retail worlds, they eventually go on sale for about $10 so I can hold off on buying this one until then.

I'll admit that I was skeptical of this world, mainly because I thought that it would be mored based on the Asian dragons than the European dragons. But, Celtic lands? Take my money!  ;D

Does anyone know if Gold versions go on sale for that lower price ever? Or is that the standard edition only? If so, how cheap can I expect to get the gold edition?

Right now the Monte Vista Simpoint Bundle is going for 20 instead of 25 but I don't know which edition that is.  I don't know if retailers will have it for sale or not as I've never looked for the retail version.

Retailers usually have the standard version.  For all of the retail worlds, they've also been available as digital downloads on Origin.  In the US, both Best Buy and Origin have had Monte Vista, Hidden Springs, and Barnacle Bay for $10 on a regular basis.  The Sims 3 store usually has the standard version for sale for $20 because that is the most retailers will usually charge for a world.

In the past, Gold editions that were sold via the Sims 3 store only have gone on sale, but not the ones that were sold via simpoint bundle/retail, such as Monte Vista.  If you don't mind waiting, it's usually possible to get the standard version on sale plus the Gold edition venue on sale or daily deal for less than the full Gold price, but that's up to you how patient you are.

For example, I was able to get Monte Vista standard for $10 and then the Al Fresco Market venue for 1330 simpoints (30% savings off 1900).  In the current DD rotation, the market venue is now 50% off.

However, if the Dragon Valley Gold bundle includes both 1900 simpoints to use for purchase of a bundle plus the Celtic Lands set, the savings may not be as great this time, so it might be worth it to get the Gold edition if you want to play it upon release.

A Designer's Thoughts: Red Baby Dragons

Check out what Designer Alan Copeland has to say about the Baby Dragons he created for The Sims 3 Dragon Valley! For more information about The Sims 3 Dragon Valley, and the Red Baby Dragon, click here.

The Sims has such a rich history of cool content that I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s sat around dreaming of my favorite items from a previous Sims edition that I’d like to see make an appearance in The Sims 3. Baby Dragons are one of those things that I’ve wanted to see since my first day on The Sims 3 Store team.

I loved how you could influence the temperament of your Baby Dragon in Makin’ Magic by how you treated the Dragon Egg, and I wanted to keep the flavor of that while reimagining it for The Sims 3. So depending on how you talk to your egg, you can impact the chance of that egg hatching into one of a variety of different colored dragons, each with its own temperament, personality, moodlets and powers!

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be going over each of these little beasties in detail, but today I want to focus on the one that made the biggest impact during The Sims Live Broadcast in Dragon Valley teaser trailer, the Red Baby Dragon.

Red Baby Dragons pull their powers from fire and their personality reflects that, being impulsive and full of energy. They are the most physical and quick-tempered of all of the Baby Dragons. Much more of a chaotic troublemaker than evil in any way, Red Baby Dragons are great to have by your Sims side if you want to torment other Sims. Each Baby Dragon has a special Summon ability, so it’s no surprise that the Red Baby Dragon can summon a fireball attack that will leave your enemies Dragon Singed or smite your adversaries with Fiery Torment.

Each Baby Dragon is born with ancient wisdoms and your Sim can increase skills by talking about those things that interest them. For example, talking to a Red Baby Dragon will give your Sim insight into the Athletic skill.

Also, there are benefits just to having a Baby Dragon around. With the Red Baby Dragon, your Sim will get the Mark of the Red Dragon moodlet that lingers even after you’ve put them down or tucked the dragon in your inventory. The Mark of the Red Dragon helps with Energy and Hygiene, making it amazingly beneficial for working out longer.

There’s a bunch of fun interactions that all of the dragons share, and we’ll discuss all of those in the coming weeks, but the first one (and perhaps the most important) is naming your dragon. Naming your dragon creates a bond between the Sim and the owner. It keeps other Sims that are not in your household from wandering off with them. Once that bond is formed, Baby Dragons are content hanging out on your shoulder or around your home.

I’ll be back next week to discuss the next Baby Dragon, but in the meantime, contact me on Twitter at @SimGuruCopeland with all of your Red Baby Dragon questions.

-   Alan Copeland

Does anyone know how many different color dragons there are?  What the other colors will be?
I wonder if they will have a color that is linked to it abilities, such as the red dragon is to fire, would a blue one be to water, which in the new expansion pack dealing with water that could be a nice aspect.  Would a green one to earth, or living things, such as gardening?
I'm guessing that it would be the basic colors, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple?
Just guessing on my part, can't wait to find out more about them.
