Joria -   The rivers and such don't have names as far as I can tell.  One is the graveyard and the other is in the river.  Check the picture for bright orange symbols and click on the picture to make it larger.

Just a fun fact, in Robin and Marion's house, there is a dumpster in the basement that you can dumpster dive in!  Also, Little Red Riding hood starts with a picnic basket in her inventory, which I thought was cute!
I love the Red Riding Hood family, I'm playing them now.  :) I love their house!  Did anyone notice that despite the family bio saying, "Now that they're expecting their first child, he wonders if it's time to increase his vigilant watch for danger or begin to let down his guard?" Red is <spoiler alert>  NOT pregnant?  That kinda annoyed me.

Yeah I noticed that when I was getting their information for the townies list.   I guess she's lying to poor ole Finn.

I guess I really don't know how to "play" Sims.  I always seem to wind up changing them and seldom stick with what I consider unreasonable traits for them considering their LTW.  I decided I wanted to play Aislin Walsh, the one in the videos who plays a violin, but I just couldn't leave her alone.  So I changed her to a fairy.  She's here if you want to see her and her new traits.  So far she doesn't have any dragons so she's had to harvest her small garden herself.

http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,16203.0.html

I'm loving DV but I'm also a bit disappointed.  Where are the fae?  Yes, I know you can choose to have them or not, but I thought a place like DV would automatically have folk like that.  So that was one reason I changed Aislin and am populating the town with fae.  After all, the sidhe belong there.

Other ways I'm disappointed is I'm finding it a bit too dark.  I didn't want or expect a bright, summery world like SV or ST, but everything seems a bit gloomy to me.  I have my monitor set on the brightest settings yet still find it is too dark.   I thought the chalk cliffs would be whiter, which would brighten it up a lot.  They are very white in England.

The houses are beautiful on the outside, but once inside you find the same old stuff.  I have to keep reminding myself that EA is stuck with using base game items only, but have a hard time accepting how illogically laid out most of the houses are inside.  Like the one cottage that has one bedroom and one and a half baths and every area is bounded by walls.  Changed that one to a two br, one bath, a bit more open floor plan and reduced the price to $13k while doing it.  (Originally $18K)   Are they not allowed to use some of the new things that come with DV itself like the new "grills" ?

One thing I would have loved to have in DV is horse carts, pony carts, and carriages.  You have these wonderful cobblestone roads and modern cars zipping along them.  I think it would be cool to have to use horse, pony or dog drawn vehicles in it.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

I don't mean to be obtuse, but can we find dragons in other towns?  Pets and SN were expansion packs, so it was expected for them to show up in other towns, but what about the dragons?  Are they limited to only DV?  I would love to have dragons in MF, they would definitely fit in there.
Or have one in SV and send it after Jared, revenge for humiliating all of my sims whenever they run into him.  I have yet to have one not be humiliated by him in public, so I am looking forward to having a red dragon setting him on fire  (evil grin on face), or cursed by the black dragon.

Dragons come from eggs that you buy in buy mode.  They will not spawn in other towns in random places but they're available to hatch.

Joria - they can't code the town to automatically use a occult that's not available in base game.  They said in the live broadcast and all the interviews that this town was full of elves.  Elves don't have wings generally.   As for that new grill, it came with the venue not the town so they can't put it in the town while building.

They made it abundantly clear that this world is still in the same time frame as Sunset Valley.  This isn't some place in the past.  It's just some hidden town that no one can find on purpose.   Doing horse drawn carriages would have been a programmers nightmare.

I have a hard time playing a townie also, I guess that is why I prefer to create my own sims.  That way I can pick the traits to fit what LTW and career I want for them.

I have yet to play past four days, I keep starting a new town,  :) so I will have to give it some time, but doesn't it take four or more days for the programing to switch the townies to the supernatural beings?  The only thing I have found frustrating is the silly sizes of the lots, the 20 x 30 and so few 40 x 40 or 50 x 50.  I guess in a store world we shouldn't expect them to have lots of empty lots, but I had hoped there would be more and there doesn't seem to be a lot of places to add empty lots.
AS seemed to me to be dark, I don't find this town that way, not as bright as MV, but not bad in the darkness aspect in AS.  I just wish they would have nighttime be later in all of the worlds, getting dark at around 4 is way too early.  It should stay daylight until 6 p.m. then start to get dark.
Send her to the graveyard and she will find some dragon eggs there, one also in one of the pubs in a top room.  She can then talk to the dragon eggs about gardening and get a green dragon.  There are three in the graveyard one at each end and one on one side, don't remember which side, but I have several times seen three eggs there.  And a couple of times found some hatched after the townies had talked to them, a red, purple and black one time and a purple and green one another time.  Someone else found a green one there.
I would like the realism of carts and horses in a way, but from what I remember of the broadcast (I think it was the broadcast) the story was that it was a place that has been slow in developing until a ship, or something, came there with the advanced technology, and they quickly adopted it, blending it with the "ancient" feel of past  times. It was something like that, I don't remember exactly, but it was to explain why they were advanced in technology, but still kept with some of the ways of the past.

So far, I love this world.  I have a glitch though.  My sim had all three colors of dragons in her inventory.  With me not telling her, she would take them out, one by one and have them fly.  She put the purple dragon on the ground and when I had her pick it up, the que went away and there are no interactions with the little dragon, pity.  I had to delete it.  I guess a lot of people are having the same issue, so I was glad it wasn't only me. :)

Could it be because you had three in your inventory?  I had two in my inventory and when I sent my sim to the festival she saw someone talking to a dragon egg.  They left and I sent her over and had her talk for a few minutes then put in in her inventory.  Sent her home as it had just at two hours to hatch.
When she got home, she couldn't get it out until I had her put one of the other dragons on the floor then she was able to get it out and talk to it.  It hatched, into another purple dragon, and meanwhile she had put back in the other dragon, so that gave her two in her inventory.  Couldn't name the new one until I had her put one out of her inventory.  Then she could name it, she now has three purple, a red and a black one, no green one.

I think there was something said about how you could have only one dragon in inventory and one out, no more than two at a time.  I could be wrong; I'm going to check in a bit and see if I can find where that was stated.

Thanks, Rica.  Yes, I guess horse and carts would be a nightmare, although they can do them for some action/adventure type games.  It's just a dream of mine to have a more medieval, although not totally that way, world.  My mind still boggles over trying to think of what they used for toilet paper then.  No kidding I do ponder such things.

I have a mini-dragon crises.  (Crises because I'm freaking out over it).  I just hatched two dragons, two different Sims, same household.  Both are purple.  Once they hatched it said, "no transactions available".  I can't name them, pick them up, or do anything with them.  They are in that desert town, purchased in buy mode.  One Sim talked about nothing but weather, the other talked about existentialism.  Both came out purple.  So, is it normal for new hatched dragons to be unavailable to their owners?  The little guys just turned around and went to sleep!

Joria, that is what I was talking about in the above post.  I guess a lot of people are having that problem.  You can have as many as you want in inventory, if you take one out, then you have to put it back before you take out another one.  I only wanted one of each.  Hopefully they might get it fixed, but I doubt it.  I went back in the game and did a test. I purchased a few eggs and talked to them and they hatched one by one.  Two of those had no interactions and I had to delete it.  She still has 5 in her inventory, but I think I might just stick to a couple of dragons and let it go at that for now.  They are just too cute. :)

Noooooo!!!  Don't delete them.  Mystery solved!  They are newly hatched babies, right?  So what does a newborn do first off?  Sleep!  I just let mine continue to sleep, wake, sleep some more, practice using their magic, and sleep.  After all that, and it took hours, I could then name them, play with them, etc.  First thing I did was feed it, new born needs to eat, and then did each action.  They are chatty little things.  So both my purple dragon babies, (Puff, of course, and Lilac Lily), are just fine and have already done a magic thing or two.  It was really nice!

I've had a busy weekend and haven't been able to play the new world as much as I wanted to.  But some first impressions--yes, why is it so dark?  Sometimes I have a difficult time seeing things, and I've also got my screen turned up as bright as possible!  I'm not so thrilled with the cliffs, either, which look less real than I expected.  And in my game it's raining all the time even though it's summer.  True, if they're basing it on Ireland or something, that's accurate, but I don't enjoy it in my game (I may need to turn off rain).

I like the townies, though I'm not so fond of the blue colored people.  And it is a bit odd that so many have pointy ears but are not fairies (but I understand why, and of course, I'll just go an make some of the fairies and also place some of my own fairy Sims in the town.

I do love the look of the town and the buildings, though, and I also love that they included Robin Hood and Little Red Riding Hood, though!

I played the Eames and gave them a dragon.  She talked about work, and about her enemies and got a purple dragon.  but the big surprise was I had her husband talk to the egg, too, about his enemies, and then after her egg hatched, he also had a purple dragon, though I never saw him with an egg!  I was surprised!

I spent most of my time rearranging the town and putting in things I want like the stone's throw greenhouse, and I replaced the city hall with a castle type city hall.  I realized I should play more before editing the town more, though, because it really is a lovely town, and maybe if I'm playing (rather than editing) I'll find I want to make less changes!

I like it quite a bit overall!  Now today's editing project is to figure out where to place my hobbit-town!

I had queued up my sim to talk about the weather to her egg before it notified me it was about to hatch. Deleted the rest of the queue and just waited, the sim still near the egg, and she was able to pick it up straight away.

I just have my sim rant, and rant, and rant, and RANT to the egg about the same topic for six hours, and never failed to get the dragon I wanted and name it immediately. However, I find that having a fairy + a dragon = not a good mix. Added to the list of autonomous annoying interactions fairies can already do (I Can Fly!) are all the autonomous interactions they could do with dragons! It ended up being absolutely impossible to get anything done.

I really like the dragons, though. The black dragon especially! It can summon death flowers and ghosts, and is like a Motive Mobile for hunger and sleep! My sim with a black dragon reached the top of her career in record time and lived long enough to singlehandedly make ambrosia, create a Young Again potion, and have lots of lovely blue children with Martin Eames. All in all, a most profitable game.
I expect Azokka either to yell at everyone and totally dominate or else get out the popcorn.-Ombradellarosa
