New World, New Venue, More Details!

Hello folks!

Man it’s been awhile since I’ve posted a blog. Too long. Can I point to Dragon Valley as the main reason? It’s kept us busy here at The Sims 3 Store since before Aurora Skies was out!  Everyone on the Store has crafted a lot of love and attention into Dragon Valley, and we hope you like it when it comes out tomorrow. It’s been my favorite world since its conception, so you know what I’ll be playing this weekend.



There have been a lot of questions about the different bundles. Admittedly, they’re confusing if you’ve never tried purchasing Monte Vista. Let me shed some detailed light on these bundles to help a few of you folks out:

$25 Dragon Valley Simpoint Bundle

What does it contain? It contains:
The Sims 3 Dragon Valley
100 Simpoints

Why the 100 Simpoints? Why not?

$35 Dragon Valley Simpoint Bundle:

Yes, this one IS confusing. But it’s an awesome bundle if you do the math. It contains:
The Sims 3 Dragon Valley
The Celtic Lands Set
1900 Simpoints



A few Simmers have tried pegging dollar amounts to the Celtic Lands set, and then figuring out the discount you get for the 1900 simpoints from there. Not quite the way it works out, but I give everyone kudos for trying. The Celtic Lands set is a free bonus set you get for purchasing the $35 bundle. That additional $10 covers the 1900 simpoints, just like it did for Monte Vista.

Your next question might be: Why 1900 simpoints? That’s an easy answer. We’re hoping you use those simpoints to get the Duke of Bows Renaissance Faire venue.

Speaking of this venue, it’s awesome. I’ll be releasing another community blog from Alan Copeland regarding this venue in a few days. It’s his best blog yet!

While Archery and Violins are awesome – don’t get me wrong about that…what makes this venue amazing is the fact that if you have both Dragon Valley and the Duke of Bows Renaissance Faire venue, you unlock the Armored Black Dragon (my favorite dragon) in game. It's the same idea as the Weatherstone for Supernaturals and Seasons. And remember, all four dragons would then be playable in any world in The Sims 3.

And don’t forget to pick up Dragon Valley tomorrow on the Sims 3 Store. If you plan on waiting for the retail release, it’s going to be released worldwide starting on August 6th. The box will contain a disc and code, similar to what the majority of the world saw for Monte Vista’s retail release.

I'm wondering something about the dragons. Will they be allowed in dynasties? I know the green baby dragon can harvest all your plants at once, so that's quite cheaty. And I think the purple dragon can summon people or something like that. And they raise your motives while you hold one. It would give many major advantages to those with it.

I'm on Eastern time so that means it will be after 2:00 p.m. before I can get the game.  I was looking forward to playing it in the morning, but I guess I will have to learn some patience.

The content will have to be played with and will then be discussed on the appropriate dynasty threads.  We never make a decision before content is released unless we know with 100% certainty of all it's nuances.

More like 1 for us but it all depends on how well the store works and if all the Simmers wanting it don't crash the website.


Edit to add: Also remember we allow most things.   There's a gardening station that can instantly grow plants to the next stage and fertilize 100s of plants with only three suns/fruits/fish.  There is a skill that can allow you to summon a Sim with the exact traits you want and then make them a Best Friend all before you say hello.  There is a LTR that if you hop it in (don't even have to drive it just get in) that will raise all of your motives at once instead of just two.   There are baby swings, baby playpens, baby walkers so you don't even have to teach your toddlers or touch them!

Now I'm even more excited for this world!  I was hoping it would be up at midnight, too, but oh well!   If it was, I'd probably stay up all night playing anyway, so this will give me more sleeping time.  But I guess I know what I'll be doing over the weekend!

I wonder if the violin will be included as a new music skill (like guitar, bass, piano, drums).  Ah well, even if they just adjusted it from the bard in Sims Medieval, that would still be alright.

So, will it be like Monte Vista/Aurora Skies (I can't remember which one) and won't be available outside of direct download via Origin (Origin is not an option for me, partially due to technical issues and partially due to me choosing not to give credit card details online). If it is going to be like that, any idea when it'll be available either through a physical store or via simpoints?

As said in the broadcast, it's only going to be available in retail stores or Origin on August 6th.  It will never be available for purchase for Simpoints. 

Tomorrow it will be available as part of a Simpoint Bundle.  Which means you purchase it like you would buying Simpoints from the store (which has absolutely nothing to do with Origin).  However, if you don't like the Sims 3 Store having your credit card info then you'll have to rely on actual stores getting it in August.

Yes Dek it's exactly like Monte Vista and Magz is wrong.  It's available in the store for us in the AEST time zone NOW!.  I've bought it and am downloading as I type.
