Constantly getting robbed! :(

Hi all,

Ok I have burglar alarms all over the house and I'm still getting robbed.  Why is this happening?  I know I installed them correctly on walls because I had them in my last house and it worked fine.  Maybe because I lived across the street from a cop.  Now my new house  is pretty far away from everything and maybe it takes too long for the police to get there, is that possible? Stupid me left a few laptops around and all were taken

What do I do about this, its really annoying that no cops come and I can't interact with the burglar and do anything at all about it.

Are your alarms inside the house?  I always put them on an outside wall so they go off as soon as the burglar steps on the lot.  If you have the money, it doesn't hurt to have an alarm on each outside wall so they detect the burglar whatever direction s/he comes from.

Yes, they are inside the house.  But I will try that.  I will buy some more and put them on the outside walls of the house and I'll see what happens.

You're most welcome.  I think that should work for you, and if it doesn't be sure to come back and let us know.

By the way, I don't think it matters how far your house is from the police station.  Any burglar that I've had, once the alarm goes off, the burglar just stands beside the alarm cowering until the cops arrive.

Another thing you could try is getting a dog with the aggressive trait as I think dogs with those traits will go after burglers. (Not entirely sure about that so don't quote me on it).

Haha!  Not this burglar, he just creeps in  sneakily on his toes and helps himself to anything he can get his hands on lol! 

I don't have any expansion packs so I don't think a dog is available to get in my game.  Am I right about that?

I put a couple more alarms on which I think is the outside walls of the house if I did it correctly, so far so good.  No more burglaries so far anyway.  I think he got what he wanted anyway by grabbing those expensive laptops.

I think, not one hundred per cent positive, if you give your Sim the Brave trait, he/she will attack the burglar.  They need to be pretty athletic too.

For me the most effective solution is to put alarm on the outside wall right next to any entrance, and that with all entrances if there are more. Should work well no matter how big your house is.

Thank you, that did work!  I just got robbed before playing the game and I had a few alarms put on the outside walls of the house and wow what a noise that gave off lol!  Police were there immediately and it worked fine.
