Uh-oh Clone! Freaking Out, Here.
« on: July 18, 2010, 01:51:06 AM »
This is kind of freaking me out. There's a guy in town with the same name as my inventor sim (Spark Fixit). He has a different haircut, possibly one I used a long time ago on the real one. Should I leave him alone or take a chance on deleting him? I just bumped into him in town, and I don't know where he lives, so it's now or never.

As far as travel is concerned, he has never traveled, but his simbot just returned from China.

Could the game have plucked him out of the library the way he was as I first created him? Same tattoo, by the way.

That's very odd.  I suppose it's possible that the game could have pulled him from the library, but I don't think I've ever seen it happen.  You could try deleting him using testingcheatsenabled true.  I'd suggest that you save two copies of your game (use Save As) so that if deleting him trashes your game file, you'll have a duplicate that you can keep playing.

I found him living with the Hi Tech guys in Twinbrook, with starting traits and some unrelated skills. But oddly, he was not the young adult I made, but an adult, as my real guy is. So I forced aging, and he became elder, forced again, he died. I checked back on my real guy and he seemed okay. I saved none of this, as it was an experiment.

I feel like I need to check the town for cloned wife, kid, and simbots too.

Or I could just rename the guy and let him live in peace. That's probably the best thing, huh? If I find no other clones I'll just do that.

edit: I couldn't rename him without switching households and losing wishes, so I just deleted him. Crossing my fingers, with a designated save file in the bag.

Since ambitions (or the last patch) we have a lot of disappearing, invisible and clone sims... I wonder why this is...
