Do baby logic books and peg blocks stack?
« on: July 17, 2010, 03:51:55 AM »
I was just wondering if anyone's ever read the books to their child and had the child level up all the way to 3 on the peg box. Do the extra logic levels stack with the other ones, or can you only do one or the other? ???

They stack.  Each logic book is worth one point of logic.  Add to that the one point for the peg box, and you've got a total of four possible logic points.

From my experience, using only the peg box will get your child up to level three logic.  I believe there are three logic books for the toddlers, so if each book gives one skill point, then it would appear that you can use a combination of the peg box and the books to get your kid up to level four.  Not sure exactly if how many points the kid would end up with, if say, he only went to level two of the peg box and read only two of the logic books.  So it might be, then, overkill to read all three logic books and max out the peg box.

Oh, I thought the peg box gave three points, like the xylophone. Guess I was wrong.

@Jonna:  I think you're right.  All the other books are worth one point of skill, but it's different with logic.  The pegbox will bring up to three points and the three logic books add that fourth point.  I had it backwards.  So then, if only the logic books are read, will the Sim only have that one level of logic skill?

Exactly... I wonder if reading just one or two books gives you progress toward the first logic point.

I've always played the logic toy for three points and then only needed to read the most expensive logic book for that fourth skill point, not all three books.  I think its called "Being Smart for Fun and Profit," but I could be wrong.

Well, since my computer reset itself, I had to start over, so I'll test and see how many points I get. After I'm done with the toddler skills, do the block tables level up logic in childhood? I know they don't as a toddler.

The block table levels up handiness for children, not toddlers.

Oh, thanks Wildred. I'd have gotten mad I wasted time on the table when I could've been downing logic books.  ::)

In my opinion, the best use for the blocks table for toddlers is when you have more than one todder and all can talk.  They can play around the blocks table together and they'll talk to each other, which increases their relationship bar.  It's pretty cool to have toddlers who are best friends as they enter childhood.

I usually don't have more than 1 toddler at a time...The triplets nearly killed me before they got deleted. Still, that's a good idea.

Each logic skill book gives one point of skill, just like the other skill books, so you can get to three logic points by either raising the skill on the pegbox or reading all three logic books. The combination of both is capped at four, but you are free to combine both skill sources any way you want. I had sim toddlers with four points after reading all three books and just playing with the peg box until the first skill advance, as well as the other way around.

Tell me; I'm dealing right now with twin kids and triplet toddlers and I think I'm gonna kill myself!!! (well, sure their sim-parents will end to something like that ;D )
