Error 12 and Constant Crashing

Hi,

I have just re loaded my computer, and Started a new Dynasty But as I try to play it I keep getting "The sims 3 has stopped working" with the options wait for solution (Didn't work) and Close. So I have to keep closing it, the game wasn't like this before the re install. (Before I couldn't even open the game.) Anyway I can't play the game for more than 5 mins without a crash. Which means saving recently is useful but the game can only manage about 2 saves before the Error 12 problem. Which means I once again have to close down the game and then re open it. This is getting really annoying can someone please give me some help.

Error 12 means you're running out of memory, that can also crash the game. How much memory do you have in your computer? And are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?

Oh thank, I need to buy some more then. I think I am using a 32 bit laptop. (It's windows 7 if that is good for anything)

Windows 7 is good. :-)

If you press the Start button, then right-click on Computer, then select Properties, you'll get a window with some information. In the section System it tells you what kind of processor you have, how much memory is installed (RAM), and what kind of operating system (System Type). These are the ones we need to see if you need more memory (well you probably do, but that makes it a bit easier to tell you what we're short of).

I have removed all my stuff packs to make room on my laptop. Now when I play the game I get about 10 - 20 mins playing, but I still get error 12 while saving. I cannot save 4/5 times. I looked at the properties thing you told me to out of a possible 8GB I have 7.85 free.

I use to get the error 12 often but sense trying this I haven't had one in over a year.
