The accent mark button (`) above your left shift key pauses and unpauses the game.

As does the 'P' button.

Also the zero key. I use the one on the numeric keypad. Add it's a bigger key and easy to find.

When you open the cheat window and hit the up arrow key it will type in the last cheat you used and put the cursor at the end of the line. Handy for turning those long cheats on and off.

Like if you used the cheat constrainfloorelevation on last and want to turn it back off. Just open the cheat window and hit the up arrow key and you will have constrainfloorelevation on in the cheat box. Now just hit the backspace key once to delete the n and type ff and hit enter. The cheat is turned back off.

That's how I plant in my greenhouse, type moveobjects on, queue up the plantings, then moveobjects off.

What a wonderful thread! Just what I was looking for. If it didn't already exist I would have started it myself.
Maybe it is a good idea to list all the tips in the first post? Much easier to find them instead of reading through the whole thread. Could a moderator do that please?

Ok, of course I have one too, else I wouldn't be here ;)
Did you know that if you sell your elixirs at the elixir store when it is a full moon, you will get a better price for them?

I didn't know that you can move items from one sim's inventory to another sims's inventory by dragging the item onto the second sim's icon.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Yes, so even if they are not on the same lot you can still move the items.
Even better, you can choose exactly how many pieces of that item you want to move. I believe Ricalynn said that somewhere. Oh, what was it again? By pressing the Shift butten while dragging, I think. :)

I was just coming to post the Shift+drag trick :) I think the original thread by Rica is stickied somewhere...

Does anyone know how to select multiple items at the consignment store to buy or cancel? It's a pain sometimes clicking individual ones...

If you double click everything you want to buy, it should switch to the right side of the window. Then once you have everything you want to buy/cancel, you just have to hit the button at the bottom on the right to buy/cancel them all.

The stickied thread is Split Item Stack and it was on the Miscellaneous Help board.   It's also on the Tips Guide page.   In fact a lot of things you guys are sharing can be posted via the comments section on that page to help those who haven't found the forum yet.

That's what I've been doing so far, was wondering if there was a faster way to select a bunch of items than to double-click each one. Thanks though!!

I sent my male sim to his future mother-in-laws for a party just after he had proposed. An option came up to "ask for hand in marriage" (or similar). The mother-in-law said "yes we would love to have you in our family Riley (my male sim)".

He now has a ten day moodlet (plus 20) saying: "Parents blessing, it means so much that our parents wish us a happy life together."

Never seen it before but think its so cute!

Plus just noticed whilst my sim was playing the bass - a song called "Sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr"

Sheldon Cooper tastic!

In World Adventures, my adventurer and his wife were exploring a tomb.  The wife had a wish to Sleep in a Tomb.  While the adventurer was disarming a trap, I had the wife Fake Passing Out (from her Dramatic trait) just to give her something to do besides stand around looking cute.  This fulfilled her Sleep in a Tomb wish.  I wasn't expecting the short burst of fake sleeping to fulfill that wish, but was pleasantly surprised.

My little tidbit isn't as interesting as Tigerskin's about asking the parents' permission to marry.  I had never heard of that one.  I'll definitely have to give it a try next time one of my Sims proposes marriage.  I wonder if you can be denied permission, and what it would take for that to happen.

Abandag, I wondered if it was a trait thing (he was family orientated). But it didn't have the little icon to signal it was trait related in the talk options. I'm not sure if they would say no, I mean his other traits were evil, couch potato etc- not exactly the wished for son-in-law! However he was an imaginary friend for the daughter (future wife) so had had lived with them for a while and their relationship was ok.

Huh, why haven’t I seen this before? I ended up starting another topic with essentially the same concept: post interesting things you’ve discovered in the game that others may not know. I may need to contact a mod and see if they can merge the threads.
“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back!” - Cave Johnson, Portal 2
“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.
