« on: March 29, 2013, 04:31:57 AM »
Hay guys,
I know I have seen this on here before but I can't find it to save my life:
Is there a way to edit sims in CAS that have been saved to your bin? As in can I pull a finished sim back into ful CAS and edit everything?

As I said, I remember a discussion on this but cna't find it anywhere! lol

From memory (so I could be a bit out lol), go to create a new sim, then, there is a selection in the bottom left corner for pre-made sims. Click on that and then either scroll through the sims or click the custom sims only button. Your sim should be there.

Welcome to our Forum.

When you're making a Sim, you can use the "shell" of a Sim that has been saved to the library by clicking on the button at the bottom of the page in CAS that looks like silhouettes.  From there, you can choose any existing Sim in your library and make any changes you want.

I hope this helps.

I have already tried this. Using those pre-made sims only works if you have specificaly saved them to this list. Otherwise they simply move to the general bin with the lots that you can access from Edit Town. The sims in that bin are the ones I would liek to work on a bit.

Oh OK, you mean the ones that you can select to move into a lot. To edit them, you would need to pick them to move into a lot (even just a temporary game file will do) then once in the game, using testingcheatsenabled, click on the sim - not sure if it's left or right click, and you should get the option to edit them in CAS. Once there, you can edit them and save them to the library for further use.

You can also send them to a mirror (and possibly a dresser or styling station) in game and save them that way as well.  I use the mirror all the time if I want to save a sim to the CAS bin while playing a challenge and can't use testingcheats.

But the dresser and mirror only works for appearance, not character traits, changing of lifetime wishes etc.

I think the confusion was that AJ was talking about Household Bin not the Sim Bin.  The Sim Bin is in CAS while Households are kept in Edit Town.

If you're not playing a challenge, the only way to take them back into CAS would be to use the Edit in CAS cheat.   To do this follow Twinmum's instructions.

If you ever want to use this Sim again, at the bottom of the UI next to the portrait is a .. button.   Hit that button and "Save Sim to Bin".

I think Vinyl meant you could create a extra game file, move the family from the bin into a home and send the desired sim to the mirror, dresser or styling station and save them from there.  Then that sim will appear in the premade bin in CAS and you can edit as much as you like.  The caveat to this method is that if you want to simply edit a sim and send them back out into the exact same family with all the same existing ties, it's not possible.  This method works best if you just want to edit a single sim you like and use them somewhere else.  To maintain all the family ties and whatnot, the cheat is necessary.
