Take This Job and Score It

Take This Job and Score It

Goal
Similar to the old Peter and Jack’s Rabbit-Hole Adventures Challenge the goal here is also job/career related. The main difference is in this event is you are trying to hit the job cap in all 4 types of jobs: Rabbit-Hole, Self Employment, Professions, and Part-Time.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • Create 2 Young Adult Sims.
  • The only household addition you may make is bringing in one pet. This pet can only enter the household once.
  • Both of your Sims are allowed a maximum of 14 days of vacation/University.
  • Your two Sims can never have the same skills...i.e. if Sim A has one skill point in fishing, then fishing now becomes completely off limits for Sim B.
  • All jobs must be unique to both Sims...i.e. If Sim A hits the cap in the Cemetery part-time job, then that job is totally off limits for Sim B.
  • Treat different tracks as unique jobs—i.e. the Rock Music track is unique from the Symphonic Music track. The single exception to this is Game Developer. For this challenge there are not 2 different Game Developer tracks.
  • This challenge concludes on Week 12, Day 7, 11:59 PM.

Scoring
Scoring is based on how many unique jobs your 2 Sims have maxed (reached the highest possible level) as well as collecting as many different job related rewards.

Job Cap — Award yourself 1000 points for any maxed job unique to a Sim. All 4 types of jobs qualify: rabbit-hole, self-employment, professions, and part-time.

Rewards — Your multiplier is the total number of physical/placeable objects you get as perks for accomplishing things in some of the various jobs. Everyone starts the game with a reward multiplier of 1.00. Here's what qualifies as a reward:

All Career physical reward objects (police cruiser, stereo, special fridge, Fox trophy, etc.)  Reward objects that can be received more than once per job do not count. The following are exceptions.
  • Only one horse trophy per type of race regardless of difficulty is allowed to be counted.
  • Only one Simfest per career can be counted
Skill Certificates. Skill Certificates can only be the result of maxed work-related skills (metric or skill learned from career op). Any career opportunity received that opens up a skill must be completed if a player is to count a skill certificate.
Service Rewards such as ribbons.

It’s recommended you do not get rid of any rewards during the course of the challenge, so you can get an accurate count at the end of the event.

Each reward adds 5% (.05) to your multiplier.

NOTE: Celebrity freebies are NOT rewards in this challenge. Other items that DO NOT qualify as rewards — meals taken home from the restaurant, medical and police beepers, stylist and architect portfolios, items used to increase your job performance (i.e. box of danger or spirit device), any kind of books/journals that are part of normal job reading, paintings and sculptures that were "swiped" in the criminal career would not qualify as rewards. But, similar objects awarded as promotions in the criminal career DO count.

Total — Add up the number of job caps from your 2 Sims. Then take that amount and multiply it by your rewards. I’ll walk you through an example.

Example: You get to the end of your 12th week and your 2 Sims have hit 11 different job caps. Between the 2 of them they have also acquired 15 different rewards.
11 job caps = 11000 points
15 rewards X .05 = .75. Final multiplier = 1.00 + .75 = 1.75
Your Total = 11000 X 1.75 = 19250

  • Create 2 Young Adult Sims.
  • Both of your Sims are allowed a maximum of 14 days of vacation/University.

Just to clarify, is that 14 days each, or 14 days total between the two Sims?

Both of them are allowed the 14 days, so yes, in your wording...each of them. :)

Very cool challenge Metro, I was actually going to try a game where I could see how many careers I could max on a sim here (before you posted this) but hadn't gotten to it yet.  Still playing with UL which I just picked up.  I look forward to trying this one out :)

Service rewards are not unique right?  If Sim A receive hero ribbon from Job A, and Sim B receive the same hero ribbon but from Job B, can I count 2 rewards for this?

So how do we deal with the skill rule - there are a lot of things that sims will do autonomously (like the new social networking skill)  I know it will take a lot of micro-managing to prevent them from doing things and I'm not looking for strategy on stopping them from doing these things.  My question is: do we call it the end and submit our score at that point if a sim picks up a skill that the other one already had opened?

Count as 2 rewards correct.

You submit the score up to that point of failure.

So reward objects do not need to be unique? Just the jobs and skills used do?

Getting a reward for §25,000 in fishing is a ribbon.   You also get a ribbon for §25,000 in sculpting that looks exactly like it but they are two separate rewards because you got them for two separate jobs.

With a branching job such as law enforcement can both sims start it then althletic skilled sim branch one way and painting skilled sim branch the other? or are the starting levels off limits if one sim already took that career?

Reason I ask is that one doesn't use the same metric for both branches, ignoring the logic metric, so I wondered is it classed as unique from level one or only after branching off.

Different branches are considered unique after you have hit the cap, so yes, you could have one Sim go for one branch of Law Enforcement and the other Sim go for the other branch as long as no skills between them overlap.

I probably sound really noobish, but what's the difference between a rabbit hole and professional career?
