I just came across the challenge and it seems like a lot of fun!

I did, about a dozen times.
I have only one question. Does it matter on what lot you start?

It only matters if the specific rules say so.  In this case, no restrictions have been placed.

I got off to a really buggy start with this after one of my sims just refused to go to work, thankfully found a fix for her which I had to repeat every time she changed jobs and sometimes after a promotion but I got there in the end.

Jobs = 18
Rewards = 32
Multiplier = 2.6

Total = 46,800

I get a different score than you.  Could you please check the math?

Clarification:

The pet that enters the household can only enter once.  If something happens, it cannot be brought back into the household.

I decided to jump straight back into the competitions!

My score was:
Jobs capped (20): 20,000
Reward (41): 3.05 multiplier

20,000 x 3.05 = 61,000.

Please correct me if I've made any mistakes!

Thanks Rica. I really enjoyed this challenge, and learnt quite a bit. I had this master plan on how I was going to attack the challenge, but realised quite soon that it wasn't that simple haha.
