Baby Food

Is there a way to prepare baby food? I heard something about blending meals to give higher quality food or something... Is there a way to do this? How?
Please take a look at my story, the Thousand House!

Have a sim make a group meal, but make sure you have a blender on the lot. Also have a highchair and a tooddler. Put the toddler in the highhchair and select "give baby food" Then select the food you want to blend and your sim will go and make it.

It's not 'Give Baby Food', that will just make them hand the toddler a bowl of random mush. It's 'Serve Food...' and when you click on that it gives you a pie chart of options from what is in the fridge.

curiousity,

Is there a benefit from preparing food versus giving the sim food or handing the kid a bottle?

I honestly just place the kid on the floor and hand him/her a bottle, so much going on with five or six people running around getting ready for work, school, and other things.   I have found it easier to just give a bottle and then send the toddler to working on pegs, other toys or reading one of the books, thus  letting my sims be free to take care of other things.

There is so little time in a day to accomplish things that I use it as another time saver.  I wish they did't have it get dark so early, that would help with a lot of outdoor tasks, collecting, gathering and more.

Off topic, back on; how does it affect the development of the toddler to prepare the food? Are there pluses that make it worth the extra time?

If you serve "special" baby food that you've made by processing a meal from the fridge, the toddler gets whatever moodlet he or she would have gotten from eating the meal - so a high-quality meal or their favorite food might get a nice long-lasting happy moodlet, and get a head start on LTHP if that's enough to boost the happiness meter up into the bubble at the top.

I'm not sure if other moodlets and special effects carry through - the ones I'm thinking of are a) "Warm Fuzzies" from angel food cake, b) age reset and "divine meal" moodlet from ambrosia, and c) breathing fire from eating food made with ghost chilis.

Toddlers can get the "Divine Meal" moodlet from being fed ambrosia, though it doesn't reset their age. It's still banned in the immortal dynasty. I don't know about the first and third, considering that I just bottle-feed my sim-toddlers most of the time.
