(Just a little glimpse into Simon and Alexia's date. Happy Valentine's Day, all.
)
Chapter 18 Extra – Five WordsPerhaps it was the look in Simon's eyes when they left the Bistro. Then again, perhaps it was the nectar. Alexia couldn't exactly tell at this point...but
something had to be up.
The afternoon and evening had gone by predictably enough so far. Simon had treated her to a show at the theater and dinner at the Bistro—typical Love Day fare to be sure—but Alexia wasn't picky. Just having her boyfriend back for the weekend was special enough, even if it was rather unexpected.
She still wasn't sure what to think of all of this. By all means he should be back in University Town, studying for his upcoming midterm exams. Their past two Love Days were spent apart, so why should this one be any different?
Unless...
“A penny for your thoughts?”
Alexia smiled as her boyfriend drew her into a kiss. Regardless of Simon's intentions, Alexia was more than content just being in his arms again. Though she certainly wouldn't object if by chance he did have a greater purpose in mind.
“Just...thinking about how much I'm enjoying tonight,” she began, “and how much I'm going to hate it on Sunday when you fly back to University.”
“Just a few more months, then I'll be home for good. And with any luck, next year's Love Day will be even more special than this one.” Simon pulled back slightly and gazed longingly into Alexia's eyes. “I'm
hoping that we will be celebrating our first ever Love Day...as man and wife.”
Man and...
huh?!
Alexia gasped as Simon dropped to one knee and pulled a tiny box out of his jacket pocket. This was happening.
This was actually happening...!“Lexie...will you marry me?”
An uncharacteristically girlish giggle made its way from Alexia's throat as Simon opened the box. The ring itself was breathtakingly beautiful, but the sentiment behind it was far more so. Five simple little words. A simple, life-changing question.
And only one possible answer.
“Of
course I will, you silly goof.”
