I can't speak for Raia, but I do it to torture the readers. Many writers have take joy from the anxiety of their audience. At least, that's how I justify myself.  :P

Well I do it to keep you all hooked and reading but Raia's writing is so good she doesn't need contrivances like that.  ::)  Perhaps it's at that point when the screenshot limit is reached and another chapter is needed.  ;)

Ack!  Wow, what a way to come back Raia!!  That was a fantastic chapter!  Way to create the ultimate drama!  *paces now, waiting to see what happens next*

Thanks! Hopefully the wait won't be as long as these previous two chapters. :P

Totally awesome chapter!  So much drama!  Lovely wedding.  Almost every pregnant Sim I've played has gone into labour at the spa - not on their wedding day!  Seriously hanging out for the next update and hoping raging forest fires and wet laptops stay away from you.  ;D

Yeah...I had forgotten at what time I had them try for baby and scheduled their wedding party a mere four hours before she would go into labor. Oops...?

Thanks. :) While I can live with a shorted out keyboard, I am a touch worried about the fan being on near-constantly, but the worst that can do is just wear out the fan more quickly, so I think I'm good there. Good news about the fire, too--it's 75% contained, and both of the families that I know managed to pull through with their homes undamaged!

Oh my! What a dramatic end to a wedding! Hopefully everything goes okay with Leighton and Morgana.

Let's just say that I'm not out to completely torture Leighton. He's been through enough. :P

Why does everyone do cliffhangers :D.

In this case, three reasons: a) I'm a sucker for the melodramatic, b) I wanted an excuse to peek into Leighton's psyche, and c) chapter 8 was already 2,200 words long and I needed to cut it off somewhere. :P

I especially like the part where Sam is worried that his half sister will be half a person.  Brilliant!

Second Chances - Outtakes and Insanity
« Reply #113 on: June 29, 2013, 08:37:45 PM »
A giant thank you to everyone who has read and commented. I am more or less typing one-handed right now. Yeah...my carpal tunnel has decided to flare up again. It goes without saying that an update isn't in the cards in the relatively near future. I'm about 85% finished with the chapter, but as you can imagine, one-handed typing is a touch on the slow side.

As promised, though, I do have a bunch of outtakes from the two weddings—and then some. I hope you enjoy—and hopefully my right wrist will stop hurting soon so I can type with both hands!

Outtakes and Insanity

Gobi and Zelda's wedding was an exercise in chaos, as most sim weddings are. At the time it was the most ridiculously chaotic that I had yet experienced—and I've thrown Sims wedding parties with 14+ in the household. :o

For the sake of storytelling I had Gobias, Zelda, Pauline, Morgana, and Leighton all in the same household. The guest list was as follows: the four Langeraks, Boyd and Susan Wainwright, Judy Bunch, Stiles McGraw, and Abraham Finkel. Strictly family and co-workers.

The game decided to invite Jack and Darlene Bunch, Cornelia and Mortimer Goth, and Malcolm Landgraab—none of whom are in any of the household's relationship panels. Okay, so Judy brought a date, I can see that...and having Darlene there opened up a fun bit of dialogue that never made it into the final cut of the chapter just because I could not figure out where to put it:

---

“So are you behaving yourself? No more wild stunts on the playground?”

“Nah, I'm over that,” Darlene answered. “Playing in the fire pit is much more fun.”

Morgana hoped that the eleven-year-old was joking...but somehow she doubted it.

---

Okay, so the extra guests were not really a big deal, except more sims mean not enough chairs and lo and behold, your standard wedding traffic jam.

Then after the ceremony Cornelia decided that she really didn't like Judy and started arguing with her.

That puddle, by the way, was Stiles's doing. So much for that multi-stall bathroom facility that I built for the occasion.

The whole “pee self” theme continued into Morgana and Leighton's wedding to an extreme that I've never before seen. I attempted their wedding three times for screenshot purposes (and finally scrapped most of them in favor of staged shots). I mentioned that Gobi and Zelda's wedding was the most chaotic I had played at the time...because this one was far worse!:P

It all began when Geoffrey couldn't hold it...

then Agnes,

then Dorie,

and finally Gobias, though the only one who bore witness to his ignominy was Tia Rose.

Meanwhile good old inappropriate Yumi was laughing her butt off the whole time.

As opposed to how I portrayed it in this last chapter, Morgana went into labor in the evening. For the sake of staged shots I had to move the time back a bit so she wouldn't actually go into labor while I was trying to take screencaps.

The actual labor scene was rather humorous. Not so much for the standard wave arms and panic thing, but what happened when I had Leighton take Morgana to the hospital. They walked.

Er, Leighton ran, rather...and Morgana more or less ambled. That's her in the upper right corner still in front of the park.

Finally, I have to show this one because I love the expression on Leighton's face.

And yes...this was where they tried for baby. :)

Hahahaha. In this scenario, I am definitely Yumi.

Is it bad that I find this incredibly amusing? And here, I thought I was the only one who had insane Sim weddings! It's good to know I'm not alone  ;)

A very hilarious look at what goes wrong at Sim weddings.  Obviously some Sims never listened to their mother telling them to 'go to the toilet before they leave the house'.  I should remember to do an outtake reel for my next Sim wedding.  Oh wait, I promised myself after 'Islands of Sunset Valley' that I will not do another Sim wedding for screenshots.  It wasn't funny, it was just tedious and frustrating and...  ::)

Malcolm has a remarkably coordinated formalwear. Did you design that for him, or did the game give that to him all by itself? (Agnes seems to have gotten a makeover, so perhaps Malcolm did the same? The fact that it matches at all is surprising to me)

Oh Yumi. I just love inappropriate sims.

My sims never sit at weddings no matter how many chairs I place. I decided to forgo chairs altogether. It eliminates a decent amount of the routing problems, at least. :P

Oh my, lots of peeing in the wedding. Lots of embarrasement and lots of inappropriate laughing at the scene. In my condition, it is very hard to control many sims. In my game, i placed only upto 4 sims in a household, i can't control more than 4. And it's sad to hear that you injured your hand and are typing in one hand. Hope you get well soon and entertained us with your new stories.

For some reason the insanity only multiplied after I installed Supernatural. I never once had a sim lose bladder control at a wedding until then. Or maybe I was just lucky. :P

If real life weddings were that crazy everyone would elope, I think. ;)

I've gotten into a habit of giving everyone a makeover whenever they age up. No mismatched teens or crazy elders in my game! And Agnes, well...I just decided to give her a makeover for grins. She is such a pretty sim, but you'd never know it with that hair...

I'm definitely considering that for the next wedding on the list...which won't be for a while anyway since Sam is still just a child in story.

It can be crazy managing a lot of sims at once. And thanks--I hope the wrist heals soon. Right now I have a brace on it, which helps a bit.
