Why do you play Sims 3?
« on: March 18, 2013, 08:04:16 PM »
(Don't know if this goes here)

Why do you play Sims 3?
I play it to get away from the real world, away from the bullying and discrimination of people. In the Sim world, there is no discrimination. Sims 3 is my 'therapy'; my way to temporarily forget about the bullying and stress of life :D

Me too.  Sometimes life just bites and Sims 3 is my relaxation and de-stress therapy.

I enjoy the game because any stress is usually of my own making trying to do stuff I don't know how to.  But it means I can stretch myself and learn new skills at my pace not someone else's.  Plus I really enjoy being part of this forum for friendship and validation I don't get in my work.

Sims lets me pretend to be so many different people and do so many different things that one real human being just couldn't fit into one lifetime.  And when that sim lifetime is over, you get to keep going with a new generation.

There's a lot of reasons I can think of, but it's probably most because of my low self-esteem. I like ruining my Sims' lives because I think so lowly of my own. I'm going to shut up before anything else deeply personal comes out.

Whenever I play, I see it as a distraction from the real world. It gives me a sense of challenge and motivates me. I like it when they do something random or even when it's planned and I get a different result than I wanted. I don't know, it's better than CoD in my opinion. ;)
Edit: I just realized another reason why I play is to slack off from homework  ;D also, I love building houses and interior design at least in the game

I like it cause you get to play out life. It is a great game. I love it. I will keep playing it until I die. Then I hope the next generation will play it.

To relax and temporarily relieve my stress
To do certain things that would get me in trouble (I had my witch set fire on campus at least five times; I enjoyed the panicking and burned sims that resulted)
Because I have an overactive imagination and playing Sims 3 allows me to bring it out

My work can be stressful, with multiple projects and multiple people competing for my limited amount of brain cells. Standard ways of de-stressing, like exercise or yoga or regular hobbies, don't really work because my brain is still spinning the giant rolodex of work tasks that I need to complete.

Sims is so all-absorbing and entertaining that it's the only thing I've found that can force my work life completely out of my head for a while.  The music, the beautifully rendered towns, the non-linear, explore-any-way-you-want-to form all come together to teleport me to the Land of Real Life Escapism.

I play Sims 3 to relax and relieving stress. I find out that I can learn many things from Sims too.

I play for entertainment and to de-compress from real life.

But at the heart of it I think there is something very satisfying about making a character and having them make friends and achieve goals in a very clear cut and defined way.  Real life isn't always that easy, though sometimes I think we all wish it was.

I can't tell you how many times I've stood watching people having a conversation in real life, and I find myself imagining the little ++ -- signs above their heads as they talk ^.^

I have The Sims 3 Pets for PS3.  I play it, because it's fun to get creative and create your sims (maybe come up with a theme) and make the homes, decorate and go through their life.

Without a doubt. ;D

I also like to screw around and do random stuff with the needs on static, so does that mean I play it just to see what new things I can discover? If that’s the case, then no wonder it’s been feeling stale lately. I NEED MORE EXPANSIONS! :'(
