Another Bachelor's Degree (Completed, April 28)

ANOTHER BACHELOR’S DEGREE

Time has passed since Michael Bachelor graduated from University. If you want to know what he did when he was there, you can read Bachelor’s Degree.

As soon as he returned home, he went over to the stadium and found a job as a sports agent. He is currently a recruiter for the Llamas. Michael had to wait a while before he could marry River. What decided him was the discovery of this drawing among her sketches.

He wanted the proposal to be something memorable, so he took her up to Stoney Point, where a hot air balloon was waiting. Although they arrived early in the afternoon, River kept leaving the balloon, so it was evening before Michael could propose. “Is this a ring you’re willing to wear?” he asked. It met with River’s enthusiastic approval.

It was pouring rain the day they had the wedding, but for a few minutes there was a break in the clouds. River was stunning.

Michael looked pretty snazzy himself.

After the wedding, Michael and River decided to move into a house of their own, even if they could only afford a small one.

They brought River’s graduation gnome with them.

They also brought Michael’s younger sister Bella. His parents were getting elderly and felt like they couldn’t handle a teenager any more. Especially a teenager like Bella.

She explained to Michael that she was just kissing Mortimer because he’d agreed to go to the prom with her.

When Michael saw her prom dress, he decided that he would let Mortimer have the task of worrying about Bella. The two of them had a great time at prom and ended up going steady.

River got a few commissions to do street art around town and then got a job as an art appraiser.

She had to put her job on hold, though, for a very important reason.

They named him Robert, and when he became a toddler, everyone agreed that he looked just like River.

The next person to have a birthday was Bella. She decided that she was a bookworm, after all, in addition to being brave, good, lucky, and charismatic. Bella also decided that she wanted to become a Blog Artist. When she graduated from high school, Bella was named valedictorian and Most Likely to be Abducted by Aliens.

As soon as she put together a new wardrobe, Bella took the aptitude test. She got a scholarship and 6 credits towards a degree in Communications.

Watching Bella prepare for college, River felt very jealous. She loved Robert and Michael and wanted to be with them, but she yearned to return to school. Could she bear to leave them, knowing that Robert would learn how to walk and talk while she was gone?

“No, he won’t,” said Michael, giving her a big hug. “While you’re at school, time will stand still here. When you come back, it will be as if you never left. So go.”

River gave Robert his first potty session, and said good-bye.

“And keep an eye on Bella!” Michael called, as they left.

Cool, so River is heading back to college with Bella? I'll like this.

NOT YET ABDUCTED BY ALIENS

Bella Bachelor here. “Not Yet Abducted by Aliens” is the title of my current blog. At the risk of sounding conceited, I’m blogging about my life because I figure there’s some interest out there.

I certainly think my life is more interesting than the weather, which is all I’m allowed to talk about when I’m in class.

Or maybe my life’s not all that interesting. I went to a party the other night and it was really rather dull. I considered doing a keg stand, but then thought “Why?” So I just talked to someone so I’d have something to blog about.

Right now, I’m renting a house with my sister-in-law, River. She’s a good egg, but I don’t think it’s fair that she can have fun playing the guitar and get credit for it, while I have to study in order to get credit.

And another thing I think is really unfair is that I have to go to class when the professor doesn’t even bother to show up. But in order to get credit, I have to take notes.

To highlight the absurdity of it all, I even asked a question. “What is the meaning of life?” I asked. No one answered.

But at least I was warm. River said that she had to spend two hours sitting in the snow for her art class. I can’t imagine why no one offered to pose in the nude.

People think that being a Communications major is all about standing in the snow (or rain, or hurricane, or tornado) talking about the weather, but you have to learn how to keep your equipment in order.

One cool thing is that if you run ads on your radio, you get paid for it, and another cool thing is that you get to interview people.

Me: “Tell me, River, what’s it like being Superwoman? You’ve got a great marriage (at least I’ve never heard you fighting), and an adorable toddler. You’re making straight A’s, and you pick up $1000 each time you touch a spray can. Not only that, but you’re an up-and-coming Art Appraiser. How do you feel about all this?”

River: “Tired.”

Me: “What do you want most out of life?”

River: “I just want to see my son Robert turn out well. He’s friendly and a genius, you know. And I hope my husband Michael gets to the top of his career, and I hope I reach the top of mine too.”

Me: “So which branch of the Art Appraiser career do you plan to follow? Are you going to become a Counterfeiter?”

River: “Certainly not.”

My camera person wasn’t paying attention when River slapped me. Too bad, because that would have actually been a story.

After the interview, I kissed the first person who came to our front porch. This was research, not passion. I didn’t know whether what you did at university would stay at university. Now I know. I have a Naughty reputation.

The night before finals, I was invited to a party. I had to bike over there in the snow.

When I arrived, I found out it was a pool party. Really. You expect me to change into my bikini in this weather? Really?

Meanwhile, River was picking up a cool (actually freezing cold) thousand dollars with her spray can.

She did one large mural.

Then she added a smaller one on the other side of the door and called the whole thing “Faces.” River really is an artist.

After finals, I decided to grab a bagel. It was a nice change from autumn salad but not great. I think my next blog will consist of reviews.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Hehe. Douglas Adams.  ;D

Glad to see River and Bella back for Round Two. I don't think I commented last time, but I'm an avid reader of both.  :D

Who doesn't love "A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy?"
"Not Yet Abucted by Aliens" I think I fell of my chair laughing at that name.

Agreed, loving the "Hitchhiker's Guide" reference.  Nicely ironic that she has all the abducted by aliens references and then you throw in the Guide, which is effectively being voluntarily abducted.  Bravo for the clever story telling and wit!

Love this second Bachelor's Degree story. I really like how you have chosen a different style to capture the second chapter. I would like to see whether the random kiss goes anywhere.

If Bella ever does get abducted she'll be fine so long as she remembers her towel. :P

This is such a fun story so far!

Oh no! Was she really voted Most Likely to Be Abducted by Aliens? I've never seen anyone get that before! Maybe it's special for Bella Goth Bachelor.

Yay for the Bachelors coming back! And congratulations to River and Michael on their marriage and baby! He is sure cute.

BREAK IN SUNSET VALLEY

The last day, when we were waiting to go home, passed slowly. For most of the kids on campus, it was party time, but River and I both just wanted to get back to our sweeties. After cleaning the house, River offered to sketch me. Standing around is not what I do best, but I was so bored that I consented.

Michael was the first to greet River. He closed the bedroom door so I couldn’t get any more pictures. River told me later that she’s not going back to uni. Even though she has only one more semester, she can’t bear being separated from her family again.

A little while later, River picked up Robert and gave him a hug.

“I’m so glad to be home,” she said to Robert. “Can you say ‘home?’”

“Home!” he repeated.

The next day I invited Mortimer over. Michael chose that moment to take the trash out, so our reunion was a little awkward.

Mortimer was definitely intrigued when I explained my plan to him – that he should move in with us and then go to university when I returned.

As soon as Mortimer moved in, I set to work on his makeover. The first thing to go was his “dead cat” hairstyle.

If he just pushed his hair back from his forehead a little, he would look so much more handsome, I told him.

I won’t bother to show you the clothes he used to wear. I think he pulled them out of a dumpster. This is what he’ll be wearing  until summer comes.

I love his formal outfit.

He looks cool in his athletic gear, but I doubt that he’ll ever wear it.

His outerwear is a little more stylish.

And finally, here’s my personal favorite, his nightwear.

When he finished graduating from high school, Mortimer took the aptitude test. He could get 6 credits in either Fine Arts or Technology. While he has a lot of talent, he’s always enjoyed tinkering, so he went with Technology.

We’ve been going to the movies a lot while we’re waiting for the next semester to start. I’ve been reviewing them on my blog. Worst movie I’ve seen so far – “Swollen Hearts,” which should have been called “Swollen Heads” because it starred a couple of celebs with more ego than acting ability. My favorite movie has been “Sharks – and Land!” Iris CrumpleSteel plays a zany oceanographer befriending a great white. Very funny.

I was hoping that you'd bring Morty in. :) He and Bella are just so ridiculously adorable together. Hopefully their time at university together is a good one!

What? No Kelsy in that movie? :o
I would still see that movie though. Sounds too good to pass up.
