Store Content Won't Install
« on: March 13, 2013, 08:23:43 PM »
I'm just a bundle of problems lately, aren't I?
Alright, so here's the problem this time. Today I did a factory reset for the Sims 3 because my premium content for Aurora Skies Gold Version wasn't showing up - the walker and playpen didn't install. I did a reset, and it worked. Hurray! A few days ago I did a factory reset to get my University classes working and that worked as well but broke Aurora Skies, hence today's reset.

So the problem? I have reinstalled the content from the store three times now. All of it. I have redownloaded it all from the website, even though I have copies. I have cleared my caches, tried another factory reset, and spent hours waiting as it all reinstalled over and over and over. The result?

Nothing installs. It says it all installs but when I load up the game it isn't there. Period. No neighbourhoods, no content. Nothing. The .world files are in the InstalledWorlds folder. There are close to 5,000 files in the DCBackup when I checked, and yet there is nothing in the game. I've tried deleting these files, deleting everything but the ccmerged in DCBackup, uninstalling everything and doing it again. And again. And again. I've spent quite some time trying this. I've followed Ricalynn's instructions from the other thread I posted today - caches, .worlds, factory resets, dcbackup deletion. Nothing works. I had mods: I got rid of them, I didn't reinstall them so my game is clean.

Please, please help. I'm getting really, really upset and frustrated that I can't make anything work.

Hi DeNile,

Have you tried Hubby's (Flynn Arrowstarr) How-To?

How To: Re-Install Sims Store Items
http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,11769.0.html

I'm not sure it will fully help. But it might be worth a shot? As I've heard sometimes store content is really unpredictable. One of the last times we tried a fresh install or factory reset, it took a few tries to get it all to install and all show up correctly.

We actually ended up making a Factory Reset folder save that has all our store content installed and working and then backed it up onto an external hard drive for safe keeping. It's been a big help for us!!

DeNile, by any chance did you delete the ccmerged file when you cleaned out DCBackup?  That is notorious for messing up installation of store items.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

I have found that reinstalling everything all at once overloads the game.   It makes one giant DCCache file and then the game can't handle it so it purges.   The best result for me has always been to only install 10 items at a time.   If I have a lot of the bundled packs, I do two or three at a time because of their size.   This has seriously helped me keep everything installed.

One of the issues for a game not installing correctly is that the base game on the computer and the game registered on the account don't match.  It's one of the fixes the store has tried to keep people from pirating their store items. Sometimes the translation just becomes iffy.
