Wants to get Demoted
« on: July 12, 2010, 03:20:51 PM »
I have a sim who, having just reached the top of the Ghost Hunter profession, now wants to get demoted.  Can someone tell me how to have that happen?  If he just doesn't show up for work, will that do it?

They really like to get demoted? Maybe that has just something to do with a trait or so. Is your sim maybe a couch potato or so? Not that I know for sure if that has anything to do with it, but guessing can lead to answers though.

You probably should not clear peoples houses from ghost I believe. Try that.

This is my insane sim from the Wishmaster challenge.  I assume it's the insane trait that causes this wish to appear (he also has Absent Minded, Unlucky, Virtuouso, and Never Nude).  He's had this wish  before, at the same time as he wanted to get the level 5 of the career he was in at that time (??? told you he's insane).  Now that he's at the top of his current profession, as far as I'm concerned he can have his demotion - I just need to know how to make it happen.

A Noncommittal Wishmaster Sim, Schipperke? I guessing here. That trait is probably what spawned that wish. Actually it's probably Loser. At any rate, that challenge is all about happiness points, so unless the wish grants a lot of points I'd personally pass that one up in an effort to spend more time and get closer to some of those huge Science Center wishes — like donate 100 ghosts. If you can do both kinds of wishes, all the better. But, if you get demoted from lvl 10, there may be a consequence. I don't know what that might be.

EDIT: We were posting at the same time. ;) It must be the Unlucky Trait then. Not exactly sure.

It's only worth 400 points, and you're right, Metro, definitely not worth sacrificing the wish to donate 100 spirits.  But once he has his spirit quota, it might be fun to let him have his demotion.  But how does one get a demotion while ensuring the sim doesn't just get fired?  I've had other sims in the professions skip work, with no consequences other than their performance bar not rising.  Ludwig has no boss to insult, so that route is out.  How does one achieve a demotion in the professions?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've never had a Sim demoted. But, seriously, I would not pursue it in that challenge. You need to move on to other things. Once a Sim has hit the top of a career/skill the big wishes dry up and you need to seek greener pastures (i.e. other skills that will fire new wishes).

I know you're right - it's not worth spending the time on it in the Challenge, and I likely won't bother.  It's just that I got curious about it and am wondering how to do it.

Metro, the Insane trait does it. It's happened to my spare with that trait before multiple times. He's also gotten the wish at the same time as the Get to level 5 in X career too.

Ah, Insane. Thanks, jmz. That definitely makes sense. Who would want to be demoted after hitting the top in their career? An Insane Sim!  ;D

Thinking about this later yesterday afternoon, I had to laugh.  Not at your advice, which is right on, but at the idea that I have a hope in heaven of winning that challenge with my buggy game.  I could probably just turn the game on and let it run by itself for the entertainment value at this point.  Oh well, at least I have an excuse for bombing on this challenge.  ::)

But does anyone know how to get a sim demoted?  I'm still curious about that.

jmz, thanks for confirming that it's the insane trait that causes these insane wishes to appear!

I believe Sims with the Loser trait also want to get demoted.

Invite over the boss, and get a negative relationship. Then act lazy at work. Also go to work in a bad mood.

He's a ghost hunter - I don't think he has a boss!  As for being lazy at work, I've had sims in the professions just skip jobs, and nothing happened.  I suppose I could try and see what happens if he goes to work in a bad mood, but he's in my Wishmasters challenge, so I try to keep him in a good mood for those happiness points.  Maybe I'll try that after the Challenge is over, if I ever manage to finish.  Thanks for the suggestions, Da Vinci.

Is this count? Quit job, then reapply the job. Most likely will get level 5 back if quit at lv10.

Quitting a job is not the same as getting demoted. By the way, welcome to the forums.
