I Was Young Once
And then I got over it.

"Daddy! Daddy! Will you always be there for me?"

"Of course I will honey, I love you. And I'll always protect you."

I loved my father, *Carl, more than anything in the world.

I had lots of friends in Moonlight Falls, like Sarah. She was the paper girl, and I thought she was the coolest thing in the world. She delivers the paper! We were best friends.

My father was always a real good sport. Many a bucket of water was dumped on his head.

Mom wasn't big on kids. But Mom loved Dad. And Dad loved kids. So she did it for him. He did the most of the parenting, and I knew that somewhere, Mother loved me.

I haven't always been the perfect image of propriety. I played many pranks.

One day dad caught me, but he let me off easy. I didn't do it again, for a little while.

Couple weeks off my Teen birthday, we got a sprinkler. I didn't realize he was hungry, honest.

He said, "Okay, kiddo. Let's go in." Then he sort of, fell over. He moaned a little bit then stopped. A figure showed up, shrouded with shadow. I couldn't bring myself to look, but I heard a booming voice. I was too scared to understand what he said.

*Same as what was said about Pam

I was laughing when I saw the title! I Was Young Once! That was funny!
Oh, sorry. This not something that I laugh for, but that was funny! (for me) *laugh*

I think the name of her father Carl itself make me wonder about many things.
*Same as what was said about Pam? I don't understand...

Yay, I have your story update. I can't wait to see more, Squirt!

I'm pretty sure she was referring to, in an earlier chapter, "**I have used Pam's name purely in a way to respect her. Nothing the character Pam does in future chapters reflects my opinion of the real Pam." since Carl is the name of the dad.

Aw, that's so sad! I wonder if what Pam does next shapes Nadia's hatred of the supernatural . . .

Oh, thank you for the explanation azokka. I think I understand now ;D

Don't worry Eld! I had to have some humor, it was such a depressing update, I just couldn't resist. And it fit so well!

Jamal, "I was young once.  I got over it."  See what you did there.  The comment in the narration about her not realizing he was hungry makes me wonder if she is carrying guilt.  Poor Nadia.

Well, I'm glad that it's turned out to be not-so-depressing story, Squirt.

Oooh... So that is the source.

The question was left for me is what happened between Nadia and her Mother after that? Because Nadia ask to her Father: "Will you be there for me?". I am quite suspicious about her mother. Is she really a kind and loving person? You know when lost someone who so dear can lead to many possibilities of outcomes, hmm...

May you rest in peace, Nadia's Dad.

Stay tune for the next chapter to solved this mystery.

Nadia's mother really is nice, she just isn't one for kids. I suppose it's because on the inside she hasn't moved past it. Don't worry, I'm not done narrating Nadia's past.
I'm pretty sure Nadia carries guilt still...

Re: Nadia's Escape: Growing Up
« Reply #87 on: May 01, 2013, 04:53:41 PM »
Growing UpUpUp

Mother was devastated by Dad's death, but so was I. On a couple of occasions, she blamed me. For a while, I did too.

After a while, fighting became a daily occurrence. I was blamed for Dad's death monthly. It wasn't a happy time in the slightest.

I was okay. I did my homework regularly. But I never enjoyed school, I was no academic.

But I had to learn to take care of myself. I prepared my own meals, and got myself up in the morning.

You had to watch your step at my house. What with Mom's fairy tricks, and my pranks. No one can safely sit or relieve their bladders.

Many nights I was escorted by the police. I just don't like my house.

My mother couldn't even prepare her own dinner safely. I had to replace the stove multiple times. And put out the fire on my own.

Thankfully Mom got a free vacation. I didn't get up to any shenanigans. I grew out my hair, and did it differently. I even visited a haunted house!

But, of course. The vacation never ended. I don't know where she is right now. She may be in Shang Sim La, or Al SimHara, or even Champs Les Sims! Where ever she is, I don't want to see her again.

Now that's an interesting backstory.  It explains so much Nadia's fear and hatred of the supernatural.  I'd like to see how she can move forward in her marriage carrying that sort of baggage.  Great writing Swirl-Girl.
