Sims not arriving at University

I'm having an issue with University Life where when I send a sim (or sims) to university, they don't show up for me to move them in. Instead I get options like I started a new town (choose a household, create a household, etc). Has anybody else had this issue or any idea how to fix it? I'm really disappointed that I've only been able to play one term :/ any help would be appreciated

I haven't got into this kind of issue, do you play the game purely clean? or with some mods?
If you play with mods, you should remove them and try this again. If it's not, I have no idea.

This problem is plaguing people all over the Sims world.    I suggest going to the official forums and double checking with Crinrict on her official thread here.   

This was a known travel bug that has become actually quite common with the new expansion.  If you have mods, it is recommended by Crin that you remove all mods and try again.   Even updated mods are having issues right now with the new system. 

I actually was able to counteract the travel bug once by using Edit Town to go back to the homeworld and then hit return to game.

I don't have any mods, and I've never had this issue with WA so I didn't even know it was an old problem. Thanks for the link to the official thread. I'll try your suggestion with edit town and the other thread has given me some ideas too. I haven't been able to play this expansion much yet and this has been so disappointing!

I tried to do this, and the message came up saying "Are you sure you want to edit Home?" I hit the check-mark, and the loading screen for Sunset Valley came up. I hit "Return to Game" and the loading screen for University came up . . . so, I was back where I had started. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I honestly do not know how to explain this. I will try my best.

I called on the phone, enrolled my sim into University. It took me to the loading screen and once in the University town instead of having me pick a home for her to live she vanished.

This is what I have now.


Has anybody experienced this? And do you know how to fix it without completely restarting?

Was your Sim freshly created from CAS? If so try clicking the Move in Household button and see if she is in the library and whether that works. If not then I think you only have the option of restarting the game, hopefully you saved before leaving for University?

As an answer to your question, the University Life is known to cause many problems... You should reload the game and try again to send your sim to Univ. If the bug happens again, you should exit the game, and remove all your mods, delete the .cache files and try again to see if it works this time.

This is actually a very common travelling bug that has been made worse by University.  If it does happen again, there is one possible solution.   Go into Edit Town on the screen that says Choose Household.  From there hit the white button at the top that represents your home town.  Once you've loaded up into Sunset Valley or wherever you're playing, hit the "Return to Game" button at the top.   This will cause you to once again through University loading screen.  There is a chance when the loading is done, you'll get your household back.

No, she was not. I had a family for her and everything. But, I got it fixed. I just started a new household with a different Sim. Made that Sim drop out of University. It took my back to my original Sim's household and said she was still at school. So, I had a Sim who was close to her invite her to visit and then cheated to add her back to the household.

Take it out of full screen mode and it should work then.

I'm experiencing the glitch in which I hit "Enroll in University," University loads--and it's basically a new game with the options to Create a Household, Choose Household, etc. I've been getting out of it by going to Main Menu without saving, but there's still no way to send my sim to University and, since it's a dynasty game, I can't just save the household and put it into a new game file.

With my "junk" dynasty file, I've tried Choosing a Household and Dropping out of University, going into Edit Town and editing town then "Returning to Game," deleting the package and nhd files, and clearing out the personal and family inventories. Are there any other solutions?

Did you go to the homeworld from Edit Town and reload?  Does it still make you choose household after the reloading into Uni?

Since this is the same issue as all the others, I'm going to merge it with them.

Yes. I'm now trying moving them to clipboard and back--not sure what that will accomplish, but it's fixed strange things before!
