Townie Child with Business Degree

When my sim married Leighton Sekemoto, Sam Sekemoto, a child at the time, had a business degree in his inventory.  When he aged up to young adult, it shows under the degree section.  Has this happened to anyone else?

I had a Sim ask a teenage Parker Langerak about his degree and alma mater.  Apparently he had a tech degree from Uni but he was still in high school. 

I asked a SimGuru about this on twitter but I never got a response.  Since you actually played Sam, did he get any bonus to getting a job because of the degree?
