Procreation Elixir

I've been wondering, does the Procreation Elixir make Sims more likely to 'Try for baby' or does it increase the chances of multiple births? Wondering exactly how it works.  ???

It increases the chance of successfully getting pregnant/multiple births, kind of like the Fertility Treatment LTR. Sims don't try for baby autonomously without mods, so procreation elixirs won't do a thing in that regard.

Darn, I was hoping it would encourage townies to have babies (Really wish EA would fix that! but I guess not.  :( I don't use mods but thanks.  :)
