FYI, the Photography skill book is now sold in the book store, no having to travel to Egypt to buy it.

It's also in hometown libraries as well.  Players who don't have World Adventures will be able to buy the book and learn the skill but you'll only be able to take pictures with your smartphone.  I haven't been able to run some tests to see how the quality is.   

All new sims I've started recently also came with the mid-grade camera from Egypt in their inventories.

I'm having problems with the lecture.  When they go to the rabbithole lectures, everything's fine, but when they have a lecture in the Student Union building, every sim in the place tries to go through the door at the same time.  They all defer to each other and tap their little simmy toes, then try again 5 minutes later.

No one ever goes through the door, and after several hours, I have sims peeing on the floor, sims passing out ... it's ugly.  There are two doors, but every sim tries to use the closest door, and no sim tries to use the one that's right next to it.

I'm having the same problem, but at the main door of (I think) the Union.  I was stuck in the middle of the crowd for at least 2 hours.  My sim-self is right behind the mascot, so close to getting out!

I don't think there's much you can do. Perhaps reset the sims who are stuck and in the future get your sims inside the lecture location an hour before class starts? That's the only thing I can really think of at the moment.

I've only played for a very little bit, but I have been messing around with GameplayData to see all the new metrics for the careers and majors.  In case anyone wanted to know, the game designer career has two branches, a programmer branch which has logic, "online games played", and nerd influence metrics, and an artist branch which has the the painting and/or street art metric as well as nerd influence and games played.  The art appraiser career has two branches as well, counterfeiter and appraiser, which both have the same metrics of painting, "artworks scanned", and rebel influence.  Finally the sports agent career has just one branch and its metrics are charisma, social networking, and coworker relationships.  Ahhh, I'm so excited for these careers, I do wish the degrees were actually associated with them though, as they don't seem to be now....

Counterfeiter?? This totally justifies my whim to send Neal Caffrey from White Collar to university!

Getting my own sim out is easy -- I set testing cheats to true and simply teleport her out.    But I'm worried about all those other sims.  I don't want them dying, but I don't want to have to type "resetSim firstname lastname" for each of 20 sims, and I don't want to do "resetSim *" because I don't want to reset the sim I'm playing.

Do you know how to use the cheats to teleport?  If you type Ctrl-Shift-c and bring up the cheat window, then type "testingcheatsenabled true," you can Shift-click on any location, and one of the choices is "Teleport Here."  I don't use it for things like tombs, when it would be seriously cheating, but for things like door pile-ups, it's a way to unstick the game and make it work again.

No, I didn't know that one!  I've just started using the testing cheats, but I'll have to try it out next time.


I actually just dropped my simself out of university as my sim-boyfriend just died from putting out the fire sim-me created.  I was going to wait for the resurrection opportunity, but the tombstone disappeared from my inventory when I came back home.  I ended up quitting without saving, but has anyone else had similar experiences?

Anyway, lesson learned:  Firefighters take a long time to come to dorms because there aren't any close access roads.  In real life, that's why you aren't supposed to park in the fire lane (a HUGE pet peeve of mine).

University can also serve as a relatively early money maker if you don't mind dropping out and leaving a lot completely blank.

There is absolutely nothing stopping you from renting one of the houses, selling everything that's inside, and dropping out while you keep the cash. Apparently, the person renting out the home doesn't mind having his entire home sold for around $75,000 with all of the money going to you. It's essentially the improved China book trick, except you're sacrificing one of the lots in the process.

Self pictures seem to only be available for level 2 Jocks but you can take a romantic picture under the Romantic Socials.  That's the only ones I've noticed so far.
