Dear to whom this may concern,

Hi my name is Miranda L Reed. I have a question. How do you get 50,000 Lifetime Happiness points? Is there like a cheat for The Lifetime Happiness Points or somethings like that? Oh and i have two more question to ask you? Is the sims 3 university life fun? And how do you play the Sims 3 university life?

Sincerely,

Miranda Lynn Reed

thanks. I'm assuming all ages from teens up can go to university? Is there an option to hire a babysitter for children? What about pets? Thanks so much, I really appreciate the help. :)

No teens (University comes after high school), no pets.  Only young adults, adults and elders.

My knowledge may be rusty, but if you go to the neighborhood screen and open the cheat window, input 'testingcheatsenabled true', when in game, if you click between the border of the LTHP and the little box icon, it increases by 500 points.
I don't know if has been resolved yet.

Welcome by the way!

And done installing. I'm going to throw a witch in there, as I've seen some say, just see what's going on. I'd love for her to be a rebel.

Oh ok thanks for that (I thought it would be like sims 2 where you leave as a teen). What happens if you try to leave a child or pet at home when you go to university?

I read that it summons a babysitter (similar to as if you were travelling in WA.) Don't know how accurate that is, though.

There's a mod at ModTheSims that decreases the cost of lifetime happiness rewards.

It's also a very easy mod to make, if you don't like the one at MTS.  I've been playing The Sims since the TS1 days, and I've watched far too many sims pee and shower. :P  So I always make my own version of this mod, one that decreases the cost of the Steel Bladder and Dirt Defiant rewards while keeping the others the same.  You can make one that just decreases the cost of the social influence rewards and keeps the others the same, if you just want to see that one.

Welcome to the forum Miranda.    You can cheat your way to 50,000 LTHP or you can just earn it by granting wishes that the Sim has.   Most Lifetime Wishes are above 30,000 alone.

I started on my newly made sim.

She is Rebellious, Artistic, Avant Garde, Diva, and Natural Cook. Prior to entering university, she got to level 1 painting and 1 gardening. She still got 18 credits in advance though. (376/400)

The first trip to university, my tester sim adopted the sorority's bwan speedster and wouldn't give it back!  So much for worrying about scholarships.   ;D

The next trip she brought her husband along and rented one of the nicer houses.  Since he's a self-employed nectar maker a diploma won't do much for him, so he only signed up for one course in the fine arts program.  I'd intended on him instantly failing by skipping his classes to take care of his stressed wife, but surprisingly he didn't!  By making the occasional batch of nectar using a machine brought along via family inventory his academic meter stayed around the midpoint.  He didn't set foot into class once during the full two week term.  As a lark I sent him in for the final final exam (he skipped the midterm) and chose the "beg teacher" tone.  He wound up earning a B!

This suggests that depending on the program and the skills that add to it, sims might be able to earn their diplomas by working solely on their skills (and skipping every class).  One thing that needs testing is how many courses are signed up for and how much skilling needs to be done to offset the skipping - but it seems skipping one course can very easily be done.  I'm curious if anyone else has done something similar, and how it turned out.

Also, since you can build/buy everything in a residence, it seems a sim could make scads of cash by stripmining a dorm.  Heck, you could probably sell off the entire house and yard, build a little efficiency apartment with a locked door, and pocket the profit.  I wonder how much a repeat offender could make, systematically destroying every residence available!

One thing for people who are doing dynasties (especially the TDD), if Uni time is allowed, remember that time spent leveling a skill at home is what will prompt opportunities to trigger.  Which is why using the multitab and leveling while on vacation can sometimes make things harder.

Actually, I got an opportunity at the University. I think it was just a skill op, too; it was an opportunity that involved painting some street art somewhere in the town. It showed up in a different spot than the University Opportunities tab, in the same way an opportunity shows up in a different spot while on vacation. I remember because I wanted to get a closer look at it, but then had to go looking.

I got one that took up the Work/School tab of the opp panel but it was one out of the 12 or so Sims I've sent to Uni for full degrees.  I'm not entirely certain the Uni will spawn opportunities for skills that aren't Uni related though, which is why I said it.   There are a lot of opportunities that will not fire once you've reached max level of a skill so fast leveling of a skill can make you miss out on a lot if you need opportunities for a reason.

I can definitely say the celebrity opportunities pop up at University: my 4-star kept getting the "work out for 4 hours" one. And it's really annoying when my queue keeps getting interrupted to sign an autograph.  I now sympathize with Natalie Portman when she went to Harvard.

Celebrity opportunities would spawn in China, France & Egypt, too.   I think that's just a universal annoyance factor.

Sympathizing with Natalie Portman while she attended Harvard is surely worth the ticket price!
