Time sits still back home while your sims are away.

Ooh, that is good to know. I was worried time didn't stop.

I just got University (and Supernatural, which I didn't have!) today; and haven't had a chance to dive in to all the university stuff yet. (That and I'm waiting on the Dynasty rules for University. :) )

Ok so I've been working on random things that has been brought up for all Dynasties to know.

As soon as I was done a 2 term run on two Sims, I decided to plant some Forbidden fruits.  I knew there was a possibility of getting a PlantSim this way.  I got 1 plantsim for every fruit planted.

So I aged everyone up and sent away all but two PlantSims to woohoo with my original pair of Sims.  Each couple eventually produced a forbidden fruit seed. I planted the two new seeds once again and then used the greenhouse to hasten the growth stage.     I had each mother pick the opposite seed.

Hebe picked up Artie & Lily's Seed - it was a girl named Rose.   Lily picked up Thorn & Hebe's seed - it was a boy named Bud.    Bud is Lily's son and Rose is Hebe's daughter.   Apparently PlantSims don't actually reproduce the way a normal Sim would.   They will always be a clone of the person who pulled them from the ground.  If you have a male pull the fruit, the new life will never have a mother.   If you have a female do it, no connection to a father is ever made beyond Step-Father.

I then had Lily & Thorn make a seed.   I randomly added a paparazzi into the household and had her pick the fruit that came from that seed.   Again, the new baby boy only registered the mother that pulled him from the ground.  When aged up, he looked just like her and not his two PlantSim parents.

Yes it's just like going to China - limited time type of thing.  Leaving college halfway through a semester will actually make you lose all progress you had but you can choose between one or two terms.  One term is 1 week and 2 terms is 2 weeks.  Time sits still back home while your sims are away.

*sigh*
I guess I'll have to put my teens together into one household before sending them all off to college together - I really don't want to do them all one by one (that would take so long!). So I guess I'm also hoping you can send off more than one at a time?

Thought I'd dabble with the Social Networking skill and doing the Major Master LTW.

First and foremost, the Social Networking skill without cheating takes quite a while to level to 10. I mainly had my sim stand there and stream videos over and over again which lasts about thirty sim minutes to two sim hours. You get access to the relationship transmogrifier app at level 7 and are limited to friend, acquaintance, and disliked. Leveling up the skill gets you access to more options and of course, more skins for your phone. As for blogging, spamming blogs gets you a negative moodlet for over-blogging and causes your actual blog entries to be... well, bad to say the least. Followers do not enjoy a blogger who posts 4+ blogs a day (and really, neither would you) but depending on the situation like making a new friend, leveling a skill, getting married, and depending on the theme of your blog, you can get access to a "gotta blog about it" command which is pretty much a guaranteed 50+ followers. Since getting your blog up to 4 stars takes weeks if you do it casually, the blog selling challenge could end up being very difficult if you want to supermax it with aging on.

As for the Major Master, a LTW where you must get 3 degrees, I was a little shocked that a sim with ambitious only gets 40k LTHP for completing this. However, the funny thing about this LTW is that each time you go back, you get a wish to get another degree. On my sim's second major, the wish earned him... I want to say 21k-ish but I'm going by memory here. When you go back for your third major, the wish for three degrees will be worth 51,500 with ambitious. Yes, the actual wish for getting your third degree awards more happiness points than completing the actual lifetime wish. Throw in a happiness serum, you're looking at about 180,000 LTHP for completing this LTW with an ambitious sim. Sweet!

I should also bring up that when my Major Master sim came home from university, he had a bunch of bills in his inventory that he could not get rid of. No Bills Ever does not prevent this from happening. What I think causes this is if you choose to rent your own place instead of staying at a dormitory or sorority/fraternity home because my initial Perfect Student sim stayed at a dorm and did not get the bills. Renting your own place costs money, staying at a dorm, sorority, or fraternity home doesn't.

Just for fun, if you rant about death, there's a chance your sim will just suddenly collapse and die. Grim Reaper does not like being insulted. He resurrected my sim first and let her off with a warning. She got a 12 hour negative moodlet and a verbal lashing from Grim Reaper, who then proceeded to broadcast his own campus radio show with someone else's radio station. Naturally I had to press my luck since "death by ranting" seemed hilarious in my mind so I had her rant again. Let's just say the Grim Reaper's last words to the sim were "I warned you."

From the University Life videos, there may be another death type, "Death by Vending Machine", although I haven't been able to do this successfully.

Two questions:

Am I insane, or did Normal quality meals used to give a +10 "Good Meal" moodlet? When you get cake and pie from the barista bar, they're Normal quality, and don't give a moodlet.

What happened to the 16-hour "Saw a Great Movie" moodlet from the theatre? I couldn't wait to use the upgraded movie theatres, but my Sim only got a 4-hour "Saw a Great Comedy" moodlet.

University life is great! I recommend collecting ginseng and lavender to eat when studying. Lavender keeps you awake and ginseng helps you study
I love rain!

That's hilarious!  ;D Does Grim have the 'No sense of humour' trait by any chance?  :P Wait Lavender keeps you awake?!  ??? Supposed to do the opposite in real life. Not sure if I should be afraid of a Plant Sim Artie or not.

Sigh, you guys are so lucky, another two days until it comes out here and even then I have to wait to get it as EA LOVE to release new expansion packs at the same time as an Anime Con happens here, every time I swear. So it'll be a while until I can afford it.  ::)

I found a seed by doing experiments with the science machine/skill.

The only other way that doesn't involve planting the fruit or eating the fruit is to become a test subject while at Uni and do it that way I think.

Interesting! What color ghost does this type of death give you?

It's neon green.

This is for ranting about death with the megaphone.

This is for Blunt Force Trauma by being smooshed by a murphy bed or vending machine.

I highly recommend eating wonderpetal tea (at grocery store) raw before classes. A nine hour moodlet! My sim had classes from 8-10, 12-2, and 4-6 on Mon, Wed and Fri. EEK!

You only get three classes if you choose the maximum amount of credits per term.   That's what the three numbers mean - 1 class (6 credits), 2 classes (12 credits) or 3 classes (18 credits).

I didn't play at all after installation (while I was mightily tempted, I was more tempted by my favorite author releasing her new book same day!).

So I'm getting more and more excited about playing tonight.

Also, GreenArtie is a very amazing color (though nothing can replace the original!)
