The Andrews Decadynasty: And Then There Was...Failure
« on: March 04, 2013, 08:54:43 AM »
There was a time he thought he had it all.
He'd been a star athlete in high school.

Voted most likely to succeed in that popularity contest known as a yearbook.  He and his sweetheart had been prom king and queen.
They'd married straight out of high school.

He could still clearly remember that first night in their new home.  After a lovely dinner of mac and cheese, they'd sat on the front porch watching the stars.

"Look, Vic," he'd said, noticing a feint burst of light in the distance, "what do you suppose that is?"
"What?" she asked, "I didn't see anything."
"It was one star, but then it seemed to burst into 10 separate points of light."
She looked at him with what was simultaneously joy and shock, "It's a sign," she said, "it means you'll found a decadynasty!  That hasn't happened in Sunset Valley for...well, a long time!"

That was all a long time ago.  He didn't still see that hopeful young man's face when he looked in the mirror.  Somewhere along the line, his beloved Victoria had fallen for another man.  Their neighbor, of all people, Christopher Steel.

Now they were married and he had to look at their home every time he stepped out of his front door.

But somewhere in the back of his mind, Beau remembered a star.  He remembered it bursting into ten separate points of light.  When he was lost and looking for any bit of hope to grab, he decided he would reach out and grab his destiny...

Thanks.  I'd actually started playing the decadynasty, then started a second game in Sunset Valley to do the backstory for Beau and Victoria and I found that a slimmed down Beau and a pair of makeovers made me stop for a moment and consider just playing with them, but I wanted it to be this "journey of redemption" motif.  I hope it goes well.  The heir in my first decadynasty became my first child to ever miss making the honor roll because I got too caught up in telling everyone else's stories.  If I keep up like that, I'll have my Watcher privileges revoked!

Beau was ready to start his decadynasty.  Well, he wasn't, actually, because he knew that, outside of alien abduction, it's hard for a single male sim to have a baby.
"No worries," he thought to himself, "I'll easily find a bride.  After all, I have so many redeeming qualities.  I'm a slob, I'm inappropriate, I'm...in trouble.  Oh well, at least I still have my good looks," then he looked in the mirror.

"What happened to me?" he thought.  "I used to be so fit and handsome.  Guess I should hit the gym."
Beau had been a star athlete in his high school years and athleticism came naturally to him.

At least, it used to.
In a quick change of plans, Beau determined that the gym is a really nice place to meet lovely ladies.

Pauline Wan, while already in a relationship, seemed rather intrigued by Beau.

Another existing relationship, but at least this might be someone to help fulfill the best friend requirements.

Molly French had some potential.

As did her housemate, Fiona McIrish.
After "hitting the gym," Beau decided to bulk up his bank account.  Being a manly man, he went to the park to pick wildflowers.

This led him to a view of his ex-wife happily spending time with her new, and athletic, husband.

To avoid this scene, Beau headed to the library.  Maybe he could read up on his charisma skills while he was there.

Or maybe he could just practice them instead.

Blair Wainwright caught his eye, but could she capture his heart?
Beau had now invested a few days into developing his charisma and meeting potential spouses.  Beau decided to throw a party and invited several of his new friends.

Being the only man in the room ensured he'd be the most handsome man in the room.

By now, it was the night of the full moon, and Fiona ruled herself out of the possible spouse pool by revealing that she was a zombie.

Pauline Wan certainly was trying to make a strong case for herself.

But it was Blair who truly captivated Beau.
He invited her over the next day...

and they shared their first kiss.

And Beau expressed the dedication he felt to her.
She accepted the proposal and they had a private wedding.

And the decadynasty has begun!

Thanks!  I rather enjoyed that plan too.  It seemed like a Beau thing to do.  The nooboo has been born, but I'm waiting until the age up to toddler to post the next update.  That way, we'll see which parent's genes show up the most.

Heh. That does seem like a Beau thing to do. :P He is a character indeed! I like how you are taking a sim that most people tend to ignore and are giving him the spotlight. That is just awesome. :)

Author's note:  Thanks to those who have been reading and/or commenting.  I'm glad you're enjoying reading this as much as I'm enjoying playing and writing it

The decadynasty begins in glorious fashion with Blair confirming that an heir is on the way.

Well, perhaps she didn't think if felt all that glorious.
In anticipation of having an active youngster around the house (and in order to look even better for his beautiful bride), Beau hit the gym with serious intentions.

A slimmed-down Beau then took up both gardening and fishing to help provide for the incoming nooboo.

Since they were given a chemistry lab as a wedding gift, Blair started playing at becoming a mad scientist.

After a smooth pregnancy, the heir was born.

It's a boy!
He was named Pavo after the constellation (It means "peacock").
He has the genius and virtuoso traits.
The growing Andrews family added on to their home and created a lovely nursery which will transition nicely into being a toddler/teen/young adult bedroom.

Skipping ahead a couple of days, it was time for Pavo's birthday party.
Beau got to spend some time getting to know his in-laws.

But the main focus was Pavo becoming a toddler.

His favorite color is aqua, so he updated his wardrobe to match this.

And after a long day of birthday partying and aging up, mommy put her little man to bed.

Welcome to the world, Pavo Andrews.  You have a lot of responsibility on your tiny shoulders, but for now, enjoy your toddlerhood.

Beau and Blair had finally found love and had started fulfilling his destiny to be the founder of a decadynasty

The heir was a wonderfully curious little bundle of joy named Pavo

Given the growth of their family, their one bedroom house had to be expanded, so they added rooms on either side of the upstairs.
(It's possible that Beau just might have been the one to kick over the trash can in front of the Christopher and Victoria Steel's house)

And through all the growth and change in their young relationship, Beau and Blair found that they loved each other even more

While Blair continued to climb the rungs in her law enforcement career, she also used the chess table and chemistry set to build her logic skill so she could become Pavo's tutor through his school years.
Beau embraced the role of stay home parent.
He invested time each day in maintaining his new, healthy lifestyle (after all, he put some serious work into shedding those extra pounds and he does not want them to come back).

But far more of his time was devoted to nurturing Pavo and teaching him important skills like using the potty chair and walking

but it was Blair who taught him to talk.  Therefore, she was the first to hear little Pavo say, "I wuv you too."

Pavo has already shown himself to be a quick learner and has worked with the blocks table and the xylophone to develop his toddler skills, but who knows what this little genius will become.  However, it's certain that, regardless of the direction, he will be lovingly supported every step of the way.

Once, it had all been about himself.  His popularity, his reputation, having the most attractive girlfriend (even if they had nothing in common), but he had been young and foolish then.

Now, as he knew elder status was making its way towards him, he had finally found happiness.

He was holding in his arms his very destiny.  He, Beau Andrews, had been granted a vision in the stars that he would begin a decadynasty.

And while young Pavo was simply enjoying some daddy time, Beau knew he was preparing his little champ for quite the series of challenges.

Now, as Pavo's birthday was upon them, Beau knew the real challenges were about to begin.  Sure there would be the challenges of learning skills, making honor roll, maxing jobs, and finding his soul mate, but there were other, more immediate challenges.

The first, was simply to blow out candles.  Strangely, mom had told him not to play with fire, but here she was inviting him to do so.  No matter.  It was actually kind of fun.

What was not so fun was seeing all the body hair that Molly French grew as a werewolf.  Pavo made himself a mental note to avoid dating werewolves.  And not to wear this green jacket with the pink shoes.  Vera Wang would frown upon this.

Pavo's grandpa was a werewolf, but at this moment, he was a bit more of a hound dog as he slow danced with young Darlene Bunch.  Oh, if grandma could see you now!

Pavo's first night of childhood was spent on one of his presents:  a loft bed.

And after a good night's sleep, Pavo awoke to find himself with a day off of school and a chance to learn the logic skill.  The heir is already at level three.
"So, what else do we have that I can read?" he asks...

Re: The Andrews Decadynasty: A Birthday, but not Pavo's
« Reply #13 on: March 20, 2013, 11:13:43 PM »
Gift Day was upon us and the Andrews household decided to celebrate with a gift giving party.

Fortunately, nobody seemed to notice that Grandpa is still obsessed with Lisa Bunch.
Pavo was up first for gift opening

and somehow, a bicycle was in the hatbox he opened.  That's some impressive gift wrapping.
Next up was Blair

who got a new chess board, which wasn't as nice as the one she already has.
Beau was up last

and he got a video game system.  Pavo seems rather focused on this gift.  Seems like some father and son time will be coming up soon.
But mother and son time is up first.

"I'm going to be a great artist, mama, just like Leonardo DaSimci!"
The next day was Pavo's first day of school...except that it was a snow day.

He went to school anyway...in his summer clothes.
When the weekend comes,

it's time to water the plants in underwear...in front of the many, many windows.  Gotta love the inappropriate trait.
The weekend also held a birthday:  Beau's elder birthday.  Blair gave him his gift early.

"Daddy's going to have a birthday.  Maybe we'll have a party!"
"That's only the fifteenth time you've mentioned it.  You sound like a broken record."

And here we have Beau the Elder.  Sadly, he is very aware that it is going to be his tombstone that will fill the dynasty requirement for his little man.

But today, they're thinking of happier things as they have their small family gathering to celebrate.  "Rollo came to your party too, daddy!"

Rollo has become much more of a presence in the household and has even been helping Pavo learn his logic skill.

"I could paint a picture of this chess board.  I'm going to be a great artist."
"Oh, that's nice.  Checkmate, again."

And between the logic work with Rollo, birthday time with daddy, and tutoring with mommy, Pavo found time to add another member to the household...at least temporarily.

Tune in to the next chapter and find out what other new member will be added to the household

Yay story! I like this story. I really liked the introduction with the Andrews looking like their younger days. It was too bad of Victoria to leave Beau for Christopher! But I'm glad that Beau has found happiness with Blair. I like that choice. I like for my sims to have grandparents if possible. It makes for some nice moments. Rollo is funny. I like his attitude.
