Older than Should Be on First Sim Day
« on: July 10, 2010, 03:11:49 PM »
I don't know if this is a glitch, but for example, if I create a husband and wife in CAS, when I move them in, usually one of them ends up  a few days older than the other, even if it is Day 1, Week 1. I was thinking it was to make it more realistic. I have Ambitions. I'm not sure if there are any new patches, but I am updated up to the point when I got Ambitions. (Last week.) Any reasons why this may be happening?

A Challenge player was concerned with this as well and mentioned it recently. Bottom line, Sydney — it's totally normal to have slight variations in the time that Sims age up.

This does seem odd. To me it sounds like a glitch since everybody I create in CAS is at the beginning of his/her designated life stage.

Doesn't matter to the game. It still throws some variety in ages.

Agreed. But, the simple solution as someone pointed out is to just give the twin that's older X number of life fruit to balance things out depending on how many days you need reduced.

Cheating can get you those life fruits immediately from the buyDebug menu if you want to.

I have noticed this weirdness from Day 1 with the Base Game, back when it came out in June of last year. I am not crazy about it, but, oh well. However, I am noticing a little bit of a trend, but I haven't really tested it sufficiently enough to know if this is really what is determing my Sims' initial lifespans or just a coincidence. However, I have noticed that the, for lack of a better word, fatter, my sims are when created in CAS and the less muscular they are, the more days they seem to have chopped off of them on Day 1. When I've made muscular, slim (not skinny) men, in the normal lifespan, they usually have started at 20 to 21 days until becoming an Adult. When I have made plumper and less muscular men and women, they have started out with 18 to 19 days until becoming an Adult. I made one particular female Sim who was quite obese (though not all the way to the right side of the slider) with virtually no muscle tone and she stated out at 16 days before becoming an Adult. So I think the game is making it's own lifespan analysis, at least right after creating a Sim based on how "healthy" they seem right out of CAS. Like I said, I'm not too crazy about it, but if I am onto something here, I can sort of understand it.

This has been an issue since the game first came out.  There was some speculation that perhaps your Sims are aging in Create a Sim while you create the others.  Sort of like time spent in CAS is ticking off days in their lifespan.

Pam, I can't really say that is the case as I usually make only solo sims, so they are not waiting for other household members to be completed.

I see.  That's interesting.  So, your solo Sims also have time missing from their lifespan bar.  Keep us posted on anything you discover from the weight/muscular issues.

I seriously think that it was just a design in the game for sims to have a few days difference after CAS. It happens to everyone, and since the game has been out for over a year, I don't think it's a bug or glitch. Though it is weird that it happens even to twin sims. I guess it's just to keep variety, and if you create a full house to begin with, you'd need the whole day for all 8 birthdays.

If you want your twins to be the same age, then you could just have them age up on the same day. When it's the older one's birthday, also use a cake for the younger twin.
