Yep. That laptop is better than mine and I can run the Sims 4 CAS Demo on max.

You will be fine. :) Nice little machine that!

Hi Kissame,

Thank you for posting your budget, and specs of the laptop. If I may ask, are you in the US or outside of the US? This will help us better know where to search for laptops.

That laptop should run Sims 3... probably in Medium settings.

The graphics card built in isn't very good, I'm afraid.

Okay.
I have been mainly looking at Office Depot/max and best buy to purchase. I would prefer to buy at a store versus online. But I absolutely do not want to run into the problems I had with my other computer and I could turn it on I could pull up the spec to know what at least to avoid. I guess my biggest lack of knowledge extends to the graphic cards. The sims is the only game I will play on the computer, I typically play a lot of console games but have a deep fondness for the sims, lol.

I have increased my budget from where it was (currently $700) but I'm starting to feel like I may not even get a decent laptop with that.  :(

To run Sims 3 half-way decently, I'd suggest a budget of at least $1000. But keep in mind that even with having $1000 laptop, you may run into problems from time to time as Sims 3 is a graphics hungry game. So you may need to have the settings on medium and turn some features off to make the game run smoother.

Okay, thank you. I do not mind reducing the settings on the game.

Do you have any other suggestions for laptops?

I also looked at hp pavilion touchsmart 15 w/amd quad core, 8 GB memory, 750 hard drive, 2.1 ghz and Amd Radeon hd 8610g graphics

Or

Toshiba satellite s55t intel core i7 processor, 8GB mem, 1T hard drive, 3.5 Ghz, mobile intel hd graphic

Any additional suggestions are greatly appreciated!

We're still looking. Gave a couple of possible laptop links to Khaine to look over. So we'll need to wait to hear back from him.

The two you suggested won't work as they both have video cards that have shared memory. Sims 3 does not like that. *Snicker* It like video cards with dedicated video memory.

Hi Kissame,

Here's what Khaine and I found that should run Sims 3 pretty well without to many problems. It's got an NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M graphics card with 2GB dedicated memory. Which Sims 3 loves :)

Lenovo - 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop -- $899. = BestBuy

PS: Sorry if the link breaks. What I usually like to do is highlight the whole link, copy and paste it into the browser. Then it should take you to the page.

The card and CPU are both better than the ones I have in my laptop, and I can run Sims 3 on High with all EP's. :)

So you should be fine!
