I did some testing and was able to get my very thin Sim to put on a little weight by making her eat about 6 or 7 meals in one day.  She had a wish to improve her cooking skill, so I had her cook a bunch of meals and eat all of them.  She only got a little pudgy, not much.  And within 3 days, she was back to her normal weight.

I'd like to ask a favor of everyone, too.  Would you please be a little more careful in how you describe overweight Sims?  I've noticed there's a tendency to be negative and insensitive about it and there are a lot of people who are heavy in real life (I'm one of them).  Yes, we're talking about Sims, not people, but the attitude still makes itself known and can be a bit hurtful.  Thanks.  :)

Thanks Pam and my apologies if I was a bit insensitive in my posts.  I also am overweight, VERY overweight, and while it may be "just Sims", "just a game", I think our Simmies are very real people to us.

Thanks for saying something, Pam.  There's plenty of us around who are, shall we say, soft around the edges. :P  (Hey, after giving birth to twins this body just ain't bouncing back!)

Besides, I think curvy Sims are CUTE!  I don't go out of my way to get my Sims pudgy, but if they just come into the world that way, why not let them be?

*waving hand* I used to have a tee shirt that had a picture of a persian cats face and it said "I am not fat, I am fluffy", so that has been my motto for years.  I am also heavy and always have been, so I tend to make my sims smaller to make up for me being heavy, go figure, lol.  That is what happens when you have cooked all of your life and you have to taste everything, ya know.  Like they say, "never trust a skinny chef".  Just a saying, of course, but thanks Pam for the post.

Like they say, "never trust a skinny chef".

No doubt!  I think that's probably half my problem, I LOVE to cook.  Last night it was homemade burgers on the grill with corn on the cob and homemade baked beans thanks to this amazing lady.  If loving her is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

The only thing that balances me out is my girls who think they need a walk every day, and my garden.  :)

Anyway, I'm taking this way off topic!  Bad mod, bad!

I use to cook like that, that sounds so good.  Now it is just me and my mom, so I do not cook too much now.  I experiment every now and then.  Anyway, I also tried to fatten up a sim the other night and they might have gotten a little pudgy, but they went right back to normal again.  I still say, if you make them that way in CAS, then they are going to stay that way, well, at least mine do anyway, unless you make them eat constantly.

CAS is what seems to establish the genetic code.  They can gain or loose weight, but they'll go back to their natural state unless you keep up the eating or exercising.  Interesting, too, is that their children's genetics are set at what the parents look like at the time of conception.  The parents can be heavy all their lives, but if they are thin at conception, the child will be thin.

I'm a big girl and I make all my sims skinny too. Funny, but I live my life through them, for example, I'm very shy and quiet in real life, in the sims I'm very outgoing. Go figure lol. Back on topic though, I've found if my sims are chubby, and I use the body sculptor on them right before trying for baby, the baby is always skinny. If I want to change hair, I always do mirror, body sculptor, relax. It works 100% on the weight, but it's a 50/50 chance on the hair.

Welcome back again, Esther!

What do you mean about being 50/50 on the hair?

Thanks Pam! I mean there is a 50/50 chance the babies will get the original hair or the new color hair.

I've noticed something similar about the hair. I had a sim who had black hair, and his wife had purple hair (I know.  :D Purple is my favorite color), and the first child, a boy, was very similar to his father, in both hair color(a very, very slight root change), and eye color(no noticable difference I could determin). The second child had her father's eyes...And platinum blonde hair. I was dumbfounded when she aged up as a toddler.

I noticed with other families that sometimes the kids get a mix of their parent's coloring, or one or the other. That was the first kid I got that sort of result with, and it would be impossible in reality, as well (so would purple hair, but eh, it's my world.)

EA has made genetics better about having the kids look more like the parents, but there's sometimes that one odd child.  Sometimes, if there are grandparents, you can see the coloring there.  For example, I had a Sim who married Mortimer Goth and ended up with a purple haired child because of Cornelia's hair.  But other times, I think it's just random.

Muscle tone is also inherited a bit I think, both Tom and Jerry have been quite muscly but neither did much working out but Phillippe (Father) and Fred (Grand-Father) were maxed out with Muscles.

It's definitely the Insane trait that causes that. I've read about it on other forums and I've experienced it myself.

Sims without the Insane trait sometimes overeat also.  I just finished watching in shock and amazement as a new sim ate 4 plates of spoiled, horrifying quality waffles.  His traits are slob, inappropriate, born salesman, technophobe and I think grumpy.  After eating the 4 plates of waffles, he then proceeded to lick the plates clean.

I rip the spoiled plates out of my sims hands if I can, and dump them in the trash.

I'm faced with a learning moment about my heir's new husband. He's perfect, except he's quite large, a Natural Cook, with a Culinary Librarian LTW. She's a tiny thing, very athletic. It makes me feel icky that I hesitated briefly before marrying them, and that I feel like I need to give him a fast metabolism and enforce exercise. I'm ashamed to say I even considered buying a Body Sculptor for him, but I decided that a healthy lifestyle will be all I offer and if he remains big, she'll just enjoy the wonderful bear hugs.
