I wonder... Do sims lose weight if they eat just one meal a day... like going on a diet?

I usually delete the birthday cake right after the candles are blown out because I don't like them eating all the leftovers.  I don't know if it makes them gain weight, but it just makes me cringe at the thought of them eating all that cake for days.

I know how you feel, Pam. My teeth hurt just THINKING about it. Actually, though, I've always kept the cake (Blech), and none of my sims have ever gotten fat. Then again, I also make sure my sims are active, either going to work or gardening, or doing errands around town for everyone else. I also rarely let them eat other 'bad' foods, like cheese-steak and macaroni and cheese.

(I keep the cake because the sims that can cook are ALWAYS busy. :-\)

In terms of certain foods making weight gain more likely, I don't think the game registers any difference. I think the game would calculate the same number of SimCalories (they clearly aren't our calories!) for an Autumn Salad as it would for a slice of cake. My Sims always seem to have something junkfoody or fatty as their favourite and they never gain a lot of weight.

My sims get about two meals a day. I noticed that the sim kids also get a meal at school, because the bar always fills up eventually...Does anyone know if this is true for adults?

I've noticed that the Sims who work in the "rabbit hole" professions fill their hunger bar sometime around lunch. I've watched because sometimes they have to run off to the car pool before breakfast.

I love making sims fat for some reason, but I keep my legacy people and nice families beautiful.

Ice cream makes sims fat too, you know. :) Oh and also, when I was testing how to make sims fat, I noticed that one second they're eating ice cream, and the next second they're done and they are magically fat.  :o  Literally. Even the portrait changes (for all that chin flab-ugh!) with a snap of fingers. Creepy! In sims 2 they would hiccup.  :D

Diets do not lower weight, but they don't gain any more weight. (Diet commercials are a lie! You don't lose weight, you just gain anymore. Also, being able to still eat dessert from those diet programs makes no sense.) Make sure they still exercise.

I did a little testing with a townie.  Narcissa Vatos comes overweight at the start of the game. I had my athletic Sim train her on the treadmill.  It took two sessions for her to become normal weight.  I've got pictures on the other computer.  If anyone wants to see them, let me know and I'll post them later.

I've never had my sims gain weight either.  I thought I'd read that they could, but never experienced it.  However, I did witness something pretty funny.  My sim was on a vacation in China.  She was at the Academy training on the board breaker.  When I told her to go shower, I saw the special merchant in there watching TV.  Right as my sim entered the room, the merchant went from her regular self to enormous.  Lol.  Maybe she was watching the cooking channel?

I have not seen any normal sized sims gain weight either, but I always keep track of their eating, I guess it just goes back to sims2 when you had to keep an eye on the body meter, so I just let them fill their hunger bar and they usually don't eat until they get the hunger moodlet.  I think I will try it though, honestly never really even thought about having them gain weight. :)

I've seen a Sim gain weight.  I didn't do anything different with her, she just started slowly gaining.  She was in my Wishmaster file that got trashed, so I will never know how big she would have gotten.  I think probably overeating is the best way for a Sim to gain weight.  I remember that from a conversation I had with Carl months ago.

I had a sim who was trying to get the Omniplant opportunities. She had finished the first couple, but the last one wasn't coming, so I had her spend a day at the Bistro. She kept going inside for drinks and eventually came outside at twice the size. I had her go to the gym for a couple of days and she went back to her normal weight. She maintained her slimness without any more exercise after that.

I've noticed this too for the first time. The sims I've MADE I've never seen gain weight, but sims that marry into my household and are a little bit chubbier have.

For example, one of my sims was dating Holly Alto. She moved into the household and I put her on the treadmill because she was a little heavy and I wanted her slim before their wedding (lol) so she got slimmer and then like 2 days later when it was time for the wedding she put on her dress and I zoomed in and looked at her and she was fat again! For no particular reason! It made me quite annoyed lol.

And really, why is it only the townie women who gain weight?  Why don't any of the men?  I've sure never seen a fat Gunther Goth!

Oh wait.  I've seen a fat Mortimer and and a fat Malcolm Landgraab.

Yeah, that was the other one. It was Malcolm Landgraab that Holly was marrying. I got him slim too and same thing...day of the wedding he was fat again "/
