Observations... About Weight
« on: July 09, 2010, 10:01:55 AM »
I only play Prosperity style (even in TS3). That said, I ended up with a random sim who was athletic among other things. When I started her, she was normal weight - midway between fat and skinny. I noticed after playing her a while that she was getting fat. I figured it was baby-weight as she'd just given birth (I can attest to that, for sure!). So I put her on the treadmill and got her back down to a nice slim shape. Then I went on about taking care of the other sims in the household. Next thing I know, I look at her and she's fat again!

Back to the treadmill. Skinnied her up again then started to watch her like a hawk to see if she was eating when she wasn't hungry or something similar. What I saw made my laugh so hard my husband asked me what was so funny (and he's used to me snickering at my sims antics). When she wasn't busy doing something else she was eating. And it's not just eating...she was eating leftover birthday cake. And gaining weight like crazy! So, after my laughing fit, I resigned myself to just keeping an eye on her and putting her on the treadmill after a cake binge. I swear she gained weight faster than any sim I have ever seen before! Even eating just to fill her hunger bar made her get fat. Then, her daughter evidently got the fat 'gene' from her and does the same thing. No matter what I do, she's a fatty. I've finally given up on hoping they'll ever be anything but BBW...heaven knows there's enough of us in the real world, that I know sometimes you just can't fight fate.

Welcome to our Forum, straberiwine!

This board is for people to write their fiction stories about their Sims, similar to writing about a Legacy.  While your post is definitely interesting, it would be better if it was on the General Discussion board, so I'm moving it there.  Also, please make the titles of your topics as specific as possible.  I'm going to make an edit to yours to make it more specific.

This is exactly the kind of thing that keeps me interested in and amused by my Sims.

One of my Sims enticed a French Sim into coming home with him and getting married. He took a trip back to France and left her at home. When he got back she had really packed on the pounds. I was wondering if she got lonesome or if she was mad at him for leaving her at home. ;D

I wonder if the Birthday Cake makes a Sim put on weight faster than other foods, it would make sense because of all the sugar and carbs in it.  :)

I guess I have not had a sim ever gain weight when I had made them thin and never really thought about it.  Might do some experimenting on that one, just for myself.  I know I have had sims that were just a little on the heavy side as a young adult and when they turned into an adult, they ballooned into an even larger size.  Only reason why I noticed, is that it was such a major difference.  I guess it just varies, always learning something new in this game.

I usually delete the birthday cake right after the candles are blown out because I don't like them eating all the leftovers.  I don't know if it makes them gain weight, but it just makes me cringe at the thought of them eating all that cake for days.

I get rid of it too.  Even if they just ate, they head for that cake.  I have had a couple of sims slip past me, but for the most part I get rid of it pretty quick.

I'll bet all of you are parents.  I'm bad. I let mine eat what they want.

It's funny how inactive sims can randomly gain weight but they never seem to lose weight. I occasionally see thin sims such as Holly Alto or Blair Wainwright suddenly get fat but I've never seen Beau Andrews get thin.

Good point, Cub.  I've seen almost everyone gain weight...  Bella Bachelor, Nancy Landgraab, Pauline Wan, etc.  But Judy Bunch doesn't get thin.  Now that I think about it, it's only the women who get fat.  I've never seen any of the male townies gain weight that I can remember.  What's up with that?

I like to train them sometimes to make them thin.  They actually stay thin sometimes because then they get interested in the athletic skill and keep working out.  :)

I wonder if anyone has given Beau fast metabolism and put him on a treadmill?

He's one that I trained one time.  I didn't control him, so couldn't change his traits, but he slimmed down.

None of the Sims I've created have gotten heavier. The Sim I posted about earlier was a Sim from France that was a townie there. It surprised me too because she had mastered Martial arts and was always practicing or swimming. She was pretty active.

What is Prosperity style and what do you do to achieve it?

I think this is part of the genetics in the sims.  I had a female sim I made a little on the chunky side because I was tired of making slim, beautiful ones. :D  Her daughter has the exact same shape and even though she exercises and becomes thinner, she will eventually chunk up again.  She never gets "fat" but just not slender.  She married a guy who is little on the skinny side.  They just had their first child so it will be interesting which one she will take after. :)

I was going to have several females in different games hook up with Stiles Macgraw and Gage Broidy and they both ballooned up to heavyweights. :o  Um...no thanks, I pass. :D
