I cannot install this patch. I get an error message saying I have an invalid file. Any ideas how to fix that?

I keep on getting the same thing, and I've been trying since it came out. I hope EA fixes the issues soon though.

Are you using the Super Patch? crincrict says:

Ok. Here's the deal with the invalid file error.

According to velocitygrass, the incremental patch from 1.47 to 1.48 did not include the following file: GameData\Shared\DeltaPackages\p17\code_version.txt so now everyone that used that patch does not have that file and hence gets the error.

EA has now replaced the incremental patch from 1.48 with the super patch in the launcher. I'm going to remove the incremental patches from my blog for now cause they won't work for most.

Everyone will be downloading the 1.3 GB super patch.

I'm downloading what the launcher tells me to download - I don't know how to tell if it's the 'super' patch or not.

SuperPatches are downloaded directly from links.  SimsVIP and Crincrit have direct links to the downloads.  They don't host these patches - they just share the links provided by EA.

There is a link to the SimsVIP website in the third post of this thread - if you want to try and download it.   Remember they are still ironing out issues with this patch.

I think that's the incremental patch, if you patched via the Launcher to get from 1.47 to 1.48, you need to use the Super Patch. The link is somewhere in this thread.

Well, since my last post, my sister finally got all of her games uninstalled.  She installed the base game, started it and it ran fine.  All she is going to do is just put in the base game and a choice few of the EP's.  When she downloaded WA and tried to start the game, she got the notice about a patch, she installed that and it was a small one, then it went into installing the big superpatch and now WA doesn't start at all.  Isn't the superpatch a large patch with all of the smaller patches of all of the EP's up until now?  If that is the case, what about people that just want a select few games and launcher will not let her continue without patching with that big patch.  The patch starts at 1.00 to 1.50.  When she starts WA now, it gets an error saying, "error in data upload, please see log for details".  She is not a happy camper right now.

I tried patching via the launcher and got the invalid code error, so I moved on to the Superpatch. I then got the error saying that the installed version could not be verified. I finally figured out where I went wrong by searching the Sims3 site. I wasn't running the patch as administrator. Since I have gotten it installed I haven't had any issues.

Hi Saltypaws,

Have your sister uninstall everything Sims 3 related, and then install just base game and run the super patch. After that, install WA and other EPs/Sps she wants. This should work out better.

Hope this helps, :)

Yes, that's what a super patch is - a big patch of all the incremental patches that you get through the launcher. The incremental patches that you get through the launcher contain files for the Eps/Sps as well.  It's just sometimes a super patch works better at patching the game than the incremental patches you get through the launcher.

If you want a select few EPs/Sps, it's still best to install super patch, as it's an all or nothing kind of thing. As there is no way to our knowledge, to just patch certain EPs/SPs.

So does installing the SuperPatch only work if you didn't install the regular patch? I was in the middle of a re-install and it made me patch my game to continue. This was before I knew about all the issues and so I patched normally and now I installed the SuperPatch (with all expansions installed and Mods Packages folder removed) and my game is still showing an error. Does that just mean that I'm one that it didn't work for? How soon can we hope for a fix? I have a story on the line and I need screenshots!

Installing a Super Patch always works. It replaces your gameplaydata.package file (and any other necessary files) with fresh copies, hence the obscene file size (1.3 Gb). It will always successfully install, but whether or not the patch will work when you play is another matter entirely.

So the fact that my game will now not start is due to something else?

It's very bad luck this coincided with us getting a new operating system, because I was raging at it thinking it was the problem.

If it was only started when you got a new operating system, and when you patched to 1.50, then it is most likely related to one of those factors. It isn't necessarily the Super Patch's fault. I have patched with the Super Patcher since around the late 1.30's patches (file not found errors every single time), and my game runs fairly bug free. Of course, I almost only play my Dynasty, and the house is huge, so I get a lot of lag and some routing issues, but overall it's good.

Oh I don't blame the SuperPatch, I figure since I'm not the only one it must be the patch itself, I'm just really disappointed that SuperPatch didn't fix it for me :( I was so looking forward to enjoying all the lovely new RAM.

By the way, I keep thinking but haven't said, that I highly approve of your new profile picture, Seabody.
