To install Superpatch do i need to uninstall all games and reinstall?

Should I wait until uni to patch as only 2 weeks away?

I've patched from the SuperPatch multiple times without needing to reinstall.

As for the second part, it's your choice.

I have always installed patches via launcher. It has only went wrong once when installing patch before ambitions.

Do you think I should be ok?

When I tried to patch via the launcher yesterday, I had the invalid file issue.  I closed the launcher, and manually downloaded and installed the SuperPatch, and my game has been fine.

It sounds like they have replaced the incremental patch with the SuperPatch in the launcher since then... because the incremental patch does not work due to the missing file (from 1.48) that Seabody previously mentioned.

I thought I would throw caution to the wind and download the patch from the launcher.  Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones that was able to patch current.  I am not sure why some people can patch and some people can't.  My sister being one that can't.  I forgot, where do you go to patch manually?  My sister will try anything at this point.

Rica posted a link to the Sims VIP patch on her first post, so you can find it through there. I've never had problems patching from the launcher until this most recent one. I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that I have used discs to install all my games up until I ordered the latest stuff pack through Origin. While I did order the physical copy I opted to use the register code/download from Origin option so I could free up my disc drive. So all of my region codes are the same except for the last one I installed. The superpatch covers all the regions, so I didn't have to worry about figuring out if I needed the region 1 (US) incremental patch (base game) or the region 7 (digital download) incremental patch. I never knew there was a difference until this patch came out.

Edited to add: You are welcome Rosa, just sorry it didn't fix your problem.

The SuperPatch is linked from a couple of places, including Crinrict's Blog.

This is a direct link to the SuperPatch.

The usual precautions apply, including the need to remove / update any mods before use, as this patch seems to break a lot of them.

ETA:  Jaymi - I think the incremental patch was a large part of the problem, if not the entire problem.  There had been an issue with the previous patch 1.48 omitting a file, and that is the reason why so many people were getting invalid file errors while trying to use the incremental patch this time.  One of Seabody's earlier posts contained the info about the missing file.

Hi all, I have the steam version of the game which seemed to patch up very easily with no problems. I was wondering if anyone has yet noticed any glitches with this patch or if these are just in my game? I have two sims who both have fertility treatment but I'm not hearing any chimes after trying for baby over 10 times, and another sim who is drinking lots of skill boost and enlightenment elixirs that aren't having any effect at all.
If you all think it's not patch-related then I'll move this elsewhere, but it did all start happening just after I patched.
Claire

EDIT: it seems like a couple of other people have had similar things happen it doesn't seem to be a common issue. In any case, reset sim * seemed to fix both issues for me :)

I can't get mine to patch properly either. Is it that awful if I just don't patch it...?

It'll still run ok I assume?

The patch will come with Uni whether you want it to or not.  All challenges/dynasties have to be patched up after a short amount of time.

You can still run without it though.

It took me several tries before I heard the chimes as well, I can't say for certain it's patch related though but I was starting to think it was broken when it finally worked, not very often it doesn't work first or at least second try for me.

I don't know if no one saw it, or if I missed the answer, but can I uninstall the patch?

The only way to uninstall a patch is to...uninstall the game and use the superpatch from whatever patch you want to get up to.

Sounds grim but it's the only way. :(

The work progress bar doesn't seem to be working like before.  Did they change it?  There are no longer the little arrows going up or down.  Also, my sims cannot chat or invite over their boss or co-workers.  It always says they are working, no matter what time of day.  Is anyone else having these problems since the patch?

(I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not.  Please move it if it belongs somewhere else.)

Every time they fix something something else gets broken! Augh!

Thank you. I was considering uninstalling everything anyway (what have I got to lose) I guess I would have to SuperPatch after the base game because last time it wouldn't let me install WA without the patch.
