PC will always be the best Sims Console, there is no rival in my own opinion, a lot of the magic is lost on console. PC's are good for gaming but some games are often made for a PC or a Console and then they make one of the other and sometimes tend to get ruined in the process.

It said that I could but I'm still not sure.

I have:

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
1.86 GHz Performance Rated at: 3.255 GHz
1022.4 MB RAM
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x94C3)

The "ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x94C3)" doesn't mean much, but a google search seems to indicate that this is a ATI Radeon 2400, and that's on the list of supported video cards.

I would say your PC meets the minimum requirements list by EA.  The minimum.  That doesn't mean the game will run smoothly nor error free.  You'll definitely have to run in a lower resolution and detail setting.  Unfortunately, they don't offer a demo to try and see how it would run on your setup.

If you do buy the game, be careful if downloading custom or 3rd party content from the various websites, even from the Exchange.  Custom content is the source of many people's problems with running the Sims 3.  There's plenty of free items from the EA Store though, and you'll get some free points to spend for registering the base game and WA expansion.  1000 points per, if memory serves.

Well, the only things I'd buy from the exchange would be a mansion or 2 out of the highest recommended list, so I'm sure they would be okay, right?

Archer is right.  That is the minimum and we are talking minimum.  Once you get more sims and you start saving, then the slower it will get.  I would never tell anyone to run out and get all they need for their computer, but, in order to enjoy the game, then there has to be a happy medium somewhere.  I love this game and I can't upgrade anymore right now, I use a gamer computer, but I was fortunate that I caught a good deal, because I have never seen it again.  You just do what you have to.  You can play on those specs and it will be fine until, at some point you decide what to do.

Sticking with the highest recommended or highest downloaded items is a good plan.  I do similar myself.  But exchange items can foul up your game.  See below.

To be clear, the Store and the Exchange are two very separate things.  The only commonality is that they are both hosted at the official Sims3 website.

The EA Store contains items made by EA/Sims3 paid personnel.  The same people that make the items for the game and expansions.  Some you can get for free and some you have to spend money to get.  You spend money to buy points, and then use the points to buy the items and download them.

The Exchange items are all free, but are also all made by non EA personnel.  People like you and me.  The quality of the items will vary.  Some will include custom patterns and content, while others will not.

While the Exchange generally seems to be a better source for player made items, that content is still subject to problems just like other custom content sites.  For example, there has been a big problem currently concerning a 3rd party created Doll that can slow your game down dramatically.  It was created on another website, and when people downloaded it or houses that contained it, it started attaching itself to other Sims 3 items on their PC and in turn getting uploaded, much like a virus.  It quickly made it's way to the Exchange.  EA has specific instructions on how to remove this content from your game should you get infected.

I highly recommend running the game without downloading any custom content for a few weeks, just to see how it's going to run on your computer.

I recently had to uninstall and reinstall my game. After a lot of detective work it seems like my game glitches (just one was invisible babies and/or really mutated toddlers) started after a I downloaded a house from the exchange.

Yeah I think I'll get it for PC until September and then I'll buy it on Ps3.

Now I know a lot of you are saying that you'll never beat pc but I played numerous sims games on the ps2 and still really enjoyed them so.. I'm sure ps3 will be even better, at least graphics-wise

All I have to do now is try to raise another €20 lol ....aww crap, more chores lol.

Will EA be creating a store on the PSNetwork? It may be worth checking that out first if whats edging it for you (at the moment) is the fact that PC users will have the store whereas the PS3 version may not?
I think 'proper' Sims on anything other than a PC would feel wrong to me; the only console/handheld versions of it I've played are the MySims series on Wii and DS ^^
Grr Argh!

My friend had some Sims 2 game for Gamecube and said that it had a story line that you had to follow.

jmz95: Was it the full Sims 2 or one of the Sims 2 Stories games? Because they (obviously) have a story to follow. It was designed as a smaller, lighter version of Sims for use on laptops and such.

I don't know Sophie, I can't remember. All I remember was it was a Sims 2 game and I wanted to borrow it to play since I had just recently gotten Sims 3 for PC and had so much fun with it.

Sims 2 Consoles on (The Old Xbox I had) You had to follow a storyline of getting a career, making friends then advancing to the next house?
