It doesn't take that long to change clothes!

Are anyone else's Sims taking literally hours to change into a different outfit?  I mean that they queue up the action and then stand still for 3-4 hours before spinning into a new outfit.  It takes my Sims hours to change into sleepwear so they are dead tired by the time they get into bed.  They are very late for work and school in the winter when they have to change into outerwear. The only person in the household who made it to graduation was the graduate because everyone else spent the whole day changing into their formalwear.  No matter what the outfit, it takes hours for them to change and it's really frustrating.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Are there any solutions?  It's really ruining the game for me.

It's the game loading their outfit. If you pause, the outfits will load and they'll change must faster when you un-pause.

Seconding the above poster. I had an underpowered computer when I played the sims 2, and I'd always miss dates while waiting for the taxi to arrive. It took me ages to realize that pausing solved the problem. There are definitely a things in TS3 that load while time runs normally, I wouldn't be surprised at all if clothing is one of those things.

Thank you, Trip!  Here I was thinking of all these complicated scenarios with turning down the graphics settings and removing some clothing choices and it's as easy as pausing.     How long do you usually pause for?

It might depend on the size of your file, your computer, and other things. I usually pause for about a real-life minute when playing on my awful little laptop, and that's only for when they're changing into an outfit for the first time. Otherwise, I don't even need to pause.
