no sims in world?

I have no sims in any houses in any world. I checked them all! The game was fine til I had my drivers upgraded yesterday.
I did a full uninstall/reinstall last night/ this morning. but still no better. I have zero CC at the moment so thats not it either. any help greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum! In any world as in Sunset Valley and not worlds you've downloaded?    When you start a game and play for a few Sim hours in Sunset Valley, is there no one walking around from the original townie list?

the only extra hood i have is riverveiw. when i load the game and go into neighbourhood, all the houses are empty.
The simbin sims are in the bin as normal but no households are there, its like a ghost town. havent dared to play one of the simbin families in case something is wrong.
This has never happened before.

Do you mean when you first load up the game and haven't actually started playing?   When you inspect houses with Edit Town, the people disappear.   Have you actually made a Sim and started the game yet or are you still just at the loading screen?  If you place a Sim you make and start the game.   Pause once you're loaded in your new property and everyone should be at their front doors.

normally you can select create household, choose household or choose from simbin, i only have choose simbin or create. but i'll go try your idea and report back

That's because you've reset your tutorial.   Resetting the tutorial means you don't get allt he options.  The Sims are still there - you just need to get out.  Starting a game will allow you to exit tutorial and everything should return to normal.   If you go into Edit Town, you can see that people still live in the houses.
