Is there a way to not get promoted?

Without missing work, becoming enemy's with your co-worker and boss? Sometimes I just want my sim  to have a regular job instead of having to be at the top of their career all the time.

There's no real way to not be promoted, as most careers have random events to get promoted - when they pop up, and they do so randomly, you get promoted. They disappear around Level 3, I think. Other than that, the Business as Usual work tone should slow down career advancement.

dang it! lol. I like the first 2 sims games that came on the ps2 because you HAD to upgrade certain skills to get to the next point in your career. In this one im pretty sure you don't have to do that. instead it just takes FOREVER for the green bar to fill up

Well, if a job requires level two charisma or something like that don't do charisma.  Don't do the necessary skills to be promoted.   Most jobs won't let you advance until you have the required skills.
