Money lost when moving in a sim
« on: February 06, 2013, 09:58:43 AM »
So after quite a few technical problems and just general poor strategy I have finally got my immortal dynasty attempt past week one, I asked her boyfriend to move in and instead of him bringing any money with him I lost 5000 of my money, this has never happened to me before. The only thing I can think of is the house he came from is the pet adoption home, I've not had pets for very long so I really don't know would that have caused this money loss? His family is still there so it's not like I took the only person in the house.

Has this ever happened to anybody else or is it just another freak bug? I seem to be plagued by them lately.

Are you absolutely positive it was minus 5000 not plus 5000.   It should have been plus 5000.

Absolutely 100% positive, I had just over 22,000 and after had just over 17,000 and saw the -5000 float up the screen.

I still have the 17k so it's not a huge issue it's just never happened before, I had been collecting a lot, got lucky with finding all gems and metals so got a heart cut pink diamond and some extra plutonium, hence the nice sum of money in just over a week. I hadn't been spending it as I'd planned to build a proper house after the move.

I just wondered if this was a known bug or not and if the pet adoption thing had caused it, but from your comment it sounds like it isn't, she already moved somebody else in to help paint her portrait and that worked like normal. Although she didn't bring much as her family were poor, his is rich which is why I didn't expect him to steal my money, can't trust klepto's at all.

That is strange.  I've never heard of moving in a Sim taking money away.  I was thinking you started out at 22000 and were at 27000 and just didn't notice it was a 2 instead of a 1 but if it's actually 17000 then I have no clue.  I'd almost say if you have a save from before he moved in to do it and see if it happens again.

I decided to test it out in a fresh game, put my sim in a house and kachinged her up to 22,000, fast forwarded a day till the adoption house appeared, this time it was the Bagley house, so then I asked my new best friend Ma Bagley to move in and lost 5,000.

She then asked her son Sherman to move in and I lost another 5,000, took screenshots of that.

Left this one large so you can read the figures easier.

And also the -5000

So all I can say is be very wary of asking somebody from the adoption house to move in.

That's too bad.  Such a horrifying bug.   Sim houses are usually the adoption house for like 3 days?   So at least it doesn't lock out a house forever.

I'm not really sure how long they stay that way, been over a week at the same house in my dynasty game, unless they unluckily rolled it again as it is a new set of kittens. He has the old ones in his relationship panel greyed out.

Still in future I will definitely wait or avoid the adoption house altogether.

Ive had the same thing happen. I just started an Immortal Dynasty in UC, and I did a 'factory reset' for it. Went to marry Emily Carr. Before beginning the interaction my household funds were 1317. On the move-in screen it showed that bringing her in would drop me to 527. Adding one of her existing roommates to my household boosted the tally to 922, I didn't bother to see the totals for adding even more of her old home.  Fortunately the 'wedding gifts' and her car were worth far more than the minor loss.

Sorry, it might sound a bit stupid, but what is adoption house?

All I ever know is pet adoption or kid adoption...  :(

It's not stupid.  The adoption house is the house in town where you can adopt puppies or kittens.  It comes from someone's dog or cat giving birth.  If you're friends with someone in the house, you'll get a notice in the upper right corner.  You can also see it tagged in Map View.

This is also true for Horses and foals.
